Very good article, i enjoyed reading it. However there is now one thing that worries me a little bit.
Pelini's and Hickam's reference to Zac's cockiness, in my experience with cocky QB's they can get a little gun-ho and make mistakes. Big ones in big games. I hope for our sake, they exaggerate or Zac can keep his cockiness on and off the field.
Then again, Eric Crouch was cocky.![]()
Unless a guy is winning games all by himself, I don't think Pelini and Watson would stand for the common results of genuine cockiness. Alienation of teammates, inconsistent leadership (that wanes the second he takes an ego hit), a me-first agenda, etc.
You see it all of the time, cocky QB's don't like to check down. Cockiness in the pocket equals turnovers.
Offensive turnovers equals :madash for Pelini.
So far, I see this coaching staff placing a premium on humility and hard work.
