Players Banned from Locker Room and Lounge

You can't make the ball go in the hoop for them.

This is the reason teams are sitting back in zone and out rebounding us as well. To force a team out of the zone and make them man up and play the perimeter, you have to make perimeter shots. We aren't making any. If we were, it would force the opposing defenses to tighten up and come to the perimeter a bit. Instead, there's nothing inside, no open lanes and anytime we try to force it underneath we seem to turn it over.

Unless Nebraska starts making a shot, it's not gonna change.

Without absolving Miles of any fault, I'd say that he needs to start benching players that aren't rotating the ball around during possessions and are jacking up ridiculous three point attempts instead of finding an opening for at least a closer jumper.
Terran Petteway loves wasting possessions this way. As hard as he trains I am amazed when I see the amount of laziness he demonstrates when passing the ball

Seeing the other comments he made I think he is trying to make a point to the team.

They go to their over the top fancy practice facility and enjoy fancy toys that nobody else gets to enjoy. Those toys came from the fans and the BB program.

Those fans deserve a better product on the court. Until they show they are going to go 100% to give those fans a better product, the players don't deserve the toys.

Yea, he is a main offender.

My biggest concern after last years success and all the preseason love was that we would lose the hunger/chip on our shoulder.

We out played/out hustled every team we played last year.

I know they want it, but we are playing games like we can win 100% based on talent.

Guys like Parker and Rivers were huges reasons for our success last year, and they arent having the same effect.

People are not taking us lightly anymore.

Miles is a good coach, but he has been outcoached in the B1G all year. Teams are stopping TP and Shields and we arent making the proper adjustments.

Not completely disagreeing with you, but you stop TP and Shields, you stop our only scoring threats. Thats one of the reasons why it is so huge to have Walt being able to stroke the 3 ball, and why it will be huge if the White kid shoots as advertised, because it forces teams to guard out/extend their zone and gives lanes for shields and TP.

While losing Gallegos doesnt seem like a big deal on the scoring front, it was because teams knew that if he caught fire, it was going to be a long night for you. He forced teams to extend their defense.

He fired another shot across the bow with the statement that when the core was 50-20 he "started thinking about recruiting." I would suspect some players who have not exhausted eligibility will not return next year.

It appeared all this years schollies were given out but maybe there will be 4 or 5 more to give out for next year. Burn it to the ground and start over?

Good job coach. Not an easy thing to do, but when the team is not getting the message things like this become necessary.

This is a pretty clear sign that this team has lost its way. Sad that they don't respect Miles or themselves enough to not be in this position. A clear lack of respect all around.
I seem to hear this more and more in the sport of basketball...just kind of the culture of the sport. IMO

Kind of nice to see a coach put it on the players and not blame the fans or media and create an us against the world cocoon.

I'll give Miles credit for trying this.

Yes, it may backfire, but clearly other options weren't working (including, as alluded to..........potential things that haven't been made public).

That run by Iowa at the end of the half where we just stood around and allowed them layups was as embarrassing as taking the field vs Wisky looking like they had never seen a jet sweep.

Two other things to guess at..........When your titular leader (Petteway) is lauded for his work effort but during games we see him being the worst offender in being careless.......What kind of leadership is that?

And losing Craig Smith may have had larger consequences than we believed. Not just losing him, but hiring a replacement who is a defensive specialist when it has been our offense that has historically been most lacking.

Yeah, losing Gallegos has turned out to be a much bigger deal than anyone realized. We don't have any scoring threat to replace him. There were games when Gallegos got hot and just took over. No coach would dare ignore him for fear that he would start raining in threes from downtown. This year our third hand on offense just isn't much of a viable threat. Once Petteway and Shields are shut down we simply fold. I'm not sure what the answer is. And apparently Miles couldn't find it this season either.
