And believe me, being gay: anti-liberal, anti-obama and anti-social welfare/entitlement makes me a virtual pariah among other members of the gay community. But I wouldn't have it any other way.

i want to hear the personal liberties that democrats take away from us.

is it guns? is that it? that's all i can think of.

i can think of several republican things...gay marriage, prayer in schools, the ten commandments being placed in public buildings, intelligent design and creationism.

Guns would be the obvious one.

I suppose some religious people might argue that Democrats restrict freedom by wanting to keep religion out of the public schools and courthouses . . . but I don't agree with that one.

I suppose you could also make some vague argument about fiscal freedom as far as taxation goes.

Anyways, I'm with you. I think the Republican party is more likely to restrain personal liberties than the Democratic party.

it's a weird thing, fiscal freedom. i don't think the gdp gets as high as it has without government intervention, be it good or bad.

inflation caused by moving away from the gold standard would be an example of bad.

but labor laws, the minimum wage, and health care programs help keep the workforce strong and capable of producing that high of output.

yeah there are people that cheat the system, but people also cheat the free market (the current recession comes to mind)
