Poor coaching moves

About the worst coaching job and biggest letdown ever fully fleshed itself out this week with first year coach Ellis Johnson at Southern Mississippi. Southern Mississippi went 12-2 last year with a Conference USA title and a #20 ranking. 13 starters returned from that team, and Ellis Johnson managed to go 0-12. The first losing season for the team in 19 years, and the first winless season in 87 years. Just about anybody should have been able to squeeze out at least one win with that roster.

Bob Stoops has to be wondering about his hiring of his brother. OUs defense is atrocious!
Ou has the same problem with D-Linemen we have. Also, their last DC didn't recruit the front four very well.

Oh my Lord....Romeo Crennell is one of the worst HC's I have ever seen. This chiefs team is the worst in my lifetime hands down and probably the worst ever.

Down a score with 6 minutes left and the ball at midfield on 4th and six you call a timeout to PUNT!!!! Are you kidding me! By burning your second timeout you just committed to going for it. Incompetence. Might as well fire him midseason. Team will probably improve by default.

Yeah, firing him after 11 games as the official head coach would be the right way to go.

The Chiefs just don't have enough talent. Jamal Charles, Hali, Derrick Johnson, Eric Berry, and Flowers are all good, and Moeaki and Bowe are decent, but other than that, everybody else blows. They need to start spending money on players or they will never be a respectable team.

The jury is still out on Crennell, and I am completely unimpressed with him as a head coach, but canning him at this point would be a mistake IMO.
How would it be a mistake? This team has 0 leadership. None. Watch them. They are sloppy and undisciplined. This is coaching. And they have the talent or there wouldn't have been so many publications selecting them to win the division at the start of the year. I'm sorry but Romeo is part of the problem. And saying Jamaal Charles is decent talent blows up your whole argument anyway...

I said Charles is good. Which is still a little bit of an understatement. He's the better version of Chris Johnson.

I checked in yesterday to confirm that they had indeed gone 0-12. I mean, Southern Miss has a relatively strong football tradition and to go 0-12, like, I feel like you have to try harder to lose all of your games than to win 1 or 2. Even that SMU team coming off of sanctions won a couple of games..

Also, Embree playing the race card after being fired was a bit disappointing. You're 119th in scoring o and 124th in scording d...I think it was more the coaching than anything else..

Whoops. So you did. I do see what you're saying but I still think Romeo is part of the problem. This team doesn't look devoid of talent. They look lost. That saying....they get rid of the GM, I would be patient with Romeo. I know he's a good DC. Maybe he would grow into the role. The team needs leadership. If they can get that from some veterans than fine. If not then they need a general as the HC.
