Well Smothers' first play as a starter was a 19 yard crossing pattern to Toure, and he finished at 9.0 yard per attempt average, which would put him second among Big 10 quarterbacks.

Safe, perhaps, but hardly the parade of bubble screens we've seen in recent years.  Smothers had 9 passes to his WRs and tight end for 163 yards. Works for me, and most teams.

Probably won't be as hyped as Toure (or potentially as talented) but it will be nice to have him for more than one year.

 
I’d be very happy with Slovis. We’d have the highest profile QB in the BIG West. Definitely would create excitement with him and Whipple.
