Why are we getting flagged so much?

You honestly don't see how it looks bad for a conference to have Nebraska win the Conference championship or even the division championship for that matter and then waltz off to the Big 10. That would be at least a little embarrassing.
This. I've been saying it all along, when this conference was formed, the majority of the rules passed were aimed specifically to take us down. They accomplished their goals. Now that we got fed up with it and decided to go to a conference that is hopefully less corrupt and all for one and one for all, the LAST thing they want is for the team/university that they want to make the scapegoat for "ruining" the conference is for them to leave as champion. There is no way that they want that to happen, and will stack the deck against us at every turn. Especially after we made public what texa$$ was doing, and after we got off with not paying the entire exit penalty.

Do you think that E-Mart being the only player who got suspended even though others have made worse/more blatant/more dangerous plays have not was a coincidence? Do you think that the second most penalized team in the league getting only 2 penalties last night, even though our D-line was getting mugged all night is a coincidence? I would GUARANTEE that this comes from the league office. True, penalties have hurt us since Bo (even before that) has been the coach, but this is flat out out of hand. You would think that E-Mart and Courtney Osborne must have teamed Beebe's daughter or something to keep getting shafted like this.

Even though we are probably the best team in the conference (with a healthy T-Mart), Beebe and Dodds would be beside themselves if we went to the Big 10 with the last Big 12 trophy. If you think that last night was bad, wait to see what happens if we make it to the CCG, which right now, I am not betting on.

I didn't think there was any thing going on until T&AM game. Now I'm not so sure. Maybe Bo's yelling at the refs plays into some of the calls, but how much do you let go by, before you have to express your self by blowing up at them. I watched him talk to the refs quite a few times on the sidelines, before he started getting heated up, and he was fine then. Lets be honest, there were to many times T&AM got away with holding, face mask on Burkhead's long run and I'm sure there were others, these were just what I noticed when the camera happened be in the area of some of the plays. I think this week will be better for us, but if we are allowed to make it to the Big-12 championship game, I don't see us getting raped to bad with a national audience watching.

GBR!!!

None of those options really adequately reflect what I think is going on. I think that ONE crew, led by that Bob Newhart-looking guy (not to disparage Bob Newhart) is behaving in questionable ways. Not necessarily in calls made, but in the much harder to prove "non calls" on the other team. I wish I had SPSS installed (maybe I'll get it reinstalled just for this task ;) ) because i think it could be demonstrated that there are serious anomalies in our opponents' calls with this crew. I know that there is a blog post somewhere pointing at the percentage differences, but I would like to do something a little more methodical. I'd like to track that crew's officiating-- are they always lop-sided or just against nebraska? If there is ALWAYS one team that gets screwed by them or to whose penalties they're blind to, then that would be one thing; maybe they're just bad.

But if it's only lopsided with nebraska, I think you could make a pretty strong case of something going on. Would that prove a conspiracy? Probably within the officiating crew. Could it prove that Beebe was up to anything? Not very likely. But there is an anti-Nebraska milieu in the Big XII this year and maybe they're just riding that. No orders, nothing explicitly said, it's just a part of a larger attitude.

Yes, I understand that pride exists. But not even Dan Beebe is stupid enough to undertake a secret conspiracy that could potentially ruin his career just to stick it to Nebraska. Besides, the more BCS bids the Big12 gets, the more $$$ they get. There's no way before the season that the conference brass could have foreseen the possibility of the Big12 only getting one BCS bid, especially when it looked like NU, OU, and UT all were thought to be BCS contenders pre-season.

:yeah

Not only would a coo like the one that he is accused of ruin his career there would be possible criminal charges. I'm a bit surprised at how many people buy into the conspiracy. I do agree there is some evidnce for it but not enough for me to buy in yet, just seems like the risk for the b12 is a lot worse than for Nebraska winning the b12 championship.

Personally, I just don't see what the Big 12 stands to gain by keeping us out of the title game or flagging us so much. By keeping us down, all they would be doing is hurting themselves by decreasing the Big 12 chances at 2 BCS slots.

I think we do get flagged to excess, but for a different reason. Bo is screaming in refs' faces the whole game, of course they're going to be more likely to flag his team. IMO

What say you?
ISU's coach yelled just as much as bo did last Saturday in their game vs MU. and if someone screaming at you makes you that bad of an official.... guess what? you deserve to get yelled at. I dont think the b12 has put out a mandate against us, but in general the B12 is angry at us(heck you can find articles by big12 writers openly wishing us to lose) and it is affecting the calls. its a poor showing by the big12 no matter what the situation.

We've led the league in penalties in each of Bo's seasons as head coach. The teams shows the exact same type of discipline as its head coach. It appears to me that we have some problems. If we don't get things buttoned in short order, we won't have to worry about playing in Dallas.
