Pre-Spring Presser with Riley and Players - March 4th

Alex Lewis:

- Loves Cav. Coaches you hard but loves you harder.

- Wants to work on his penalties.

- RG was a once in a decade type of athlete.

Tommy:

- No worried about who's #1 guy. Just wants to do his job, study and prove it on the field.

- Soph/Jr year HS offense was more like this.

- Langs/Riley have told him what to work on.

- Riley told him he won't be a RB, sit in pocket and make smart decisions, footwork. Says Riley/Langs will help and plays will help.

- Told him not be afraid to use his feet, still some designated QB runs. Just not his #1 job.

- Langs has been real fun. Building chemistry, joke around a lot. Looks forward to meeting his family.

- Langs told him he will be the #1 now but its a competition, have to earn it.

- #1 he wants to work on is footwork. Upper/lower body were in sync, hurt his accuracy.

- Not use to taking 5-7 step drops from under center.

- Watching Oregon State offense.

- Tommy and coaches have talked about how we use to run Zone Read, but says coaches are in total control.

- 50/50 under center/shotgun. Depending on down and distance.

- Back to Soph/Jr year HS was under center in pro style because of Malcom Brown being his Running Back.

- Thinks there will be less miscommunication being WR/QB passing.

- Thinks huddling will help.

- Strength staff has been "incredible".

- Keys: Smart decisions, check down, competition rates. Said smart decisions 4-5 times. 60-65% is his goal. Smarter decisions again. Live to fight another down.

Maliek Collins:

- More instinctive/vertical in gap defense. Lets you play more aggressive then last year.

- Dline wont occupy, they will go make plays. "hopefully" more TFL.

- Not a talkative leader guy, but growing into in. Rather lead by example.

- Lot of personnel gains in the weight room. More explosive lifts.

Davie:

- Likes the 1v1 style of Banker. Island/Lock a guy down.

- CJax is "Mr. everything". Can't put a label on him. He will be making plays. Getting back to looking like his old self.

- Pressing like years past.

- Simpler. Less keys. More playing fast, make plays, fly around.

- Stewart is very knowledgable. Players see/respect he was a DC in NFL.

- Hasn't been counting DB coaches. Hasn't bothered him. He gives each one respect.

- Davie/Nate have been getting DB's together on Wed's to work on things.

- Lee/Anderson are talented. *He was asked directly about them.

I lost connection here. But he was the last speaker.

He also made some plays against Iowa, Williams was a nice change of pace to Valentine when he was brought in.

K. Williams on def. tackles: "It sounds like this year, we’re actually going to have a rotation like we were supposed to have last year."
I don't blame the guy, it seemed like every time he came in he made an impact.
Gotta agree here. I thought he was a nobody that was constantly injured. He proved me wrong on one of those aspects. Guy is a force. Going to have a really nice rotation at DT next year.

I'm confused by lack of the word "heckuva."
We've still got "gom-be" though.
