Dear Tim:

Thank you for your time and obvious football knowledge and insight when writing the above article concerning the Big 12. However, I would like to point out that Iowa State has no intention of being lumped into the "Royal Division" with Texas, Oklahoma and TCU. We have enough problems attempting to stay competitive with the likes of Colorado, Kansas State and Baylor as it is. As far as I can remember, assisted suicide, even if sanctioned by the Big 12 and the NCAA is still illegal in the United States so cannot condone any plans, be they real or imagined, put forward such as the one listed above.

Please be warned that if you persist in continuing to speculate, write and publish such nonsense, we at Iowa State will be forced to take the forceful action necessary to faciliate our upcoming exodus to the Missouri Valley Conference.

After I saw Tim Griffin's video blog, followed by the Colt McCoy marriage post... I lost all respect for the guy. He is the most unprofessional ESPN writer I have ever seen. Not to mention his logic is very much skewed and bias. I don't even read this stuff anymore.

I see people say this about Griffin a lot, that he is biased to the South and he is skewed in his logic. I would argue, however, that if you were any other school in the Big 12 North you would think Griffin has a Husker bias. He gives us a lot of coverage, seems to love what Bo is doing, and puts us right in the discussion of the best teams in the country.

While I do think he can have some pretty questionable comments and ideas every now and then, he is an overall good blogger imho.

that was an overstatement, but there are no gimmies, i guess is what i was saying, especially for road games. the main point is that their fans are lunatics. even when the SEC is down, such as the previous year, it is still hard to win. i guess espn hyping up the likes of Georgia, Ole Miss, Tennessee, and so on gives the teams high rankings, which gives the coaches fan support, and helps coaches that would otherwise be ran out of town stay around because "hey, this guy got our team highly ranked so they must be so close, if only we did not play in the toughest conference".

i do not know what i am even saying anymore, other than the SEC is crazy and so are their fans.

Aren't we recieving overly premature hype too?? All these "pundants" are saying how great we'll be if our offense improves. Are they full of sh*t, no. Are they jumping the gun, hells yeah. I think we should play a game or two to at least gauge where we stand.

With Boone Pickens' influence lessening, Oklahoma State will fall back into a lesser position in the South.

Is it just me or do these two statements contradict each other in the sense that OSU is in the north now, and then will fall into the lesser position in the south? Or did i miss something?

If so.. he could of at least made sure his predictions didn't contradict themselves... i understand this is all for fun and its helping "pass the offseason" but come on...

Ok, since I see you wanted to break out your pie charts and graphs, since the inception of the Big XII in 96, the championsip has had 4 games that were a TD or closer, where the SEC's had 1. Does this make a difference to the price of tea in china? Not a bit.

The South's been kicking the hell out of the North 10 out of the past 14 years. Where it's pretty easy to see which division was weaker. OU and UT have had power house teams for the better part of 10 years. Outside of the years CU & KSU won, whoever won the north was the sacrificial lamb in the title game.

I wouldn't want to be a coach in D1 football to begin with, let alone the SEC. There are rabid fanbases all over D1. It's just because the SEC and Big XII get so much pub, that anything remotely construed as controversy, is going to be on ESPN.

Our Baylor could play with thier Baylor's, and our powerhouses can play with thiers, and have. OSU should have beaten Mississippi in the Cotton Bowl, they were there own worst enemey. Nebraska, OU or texas can play with any of thier heavyweights and the middle of the Big 12 can play with thier middle as well.
