There is no way a 1 loss LSU can play for the title if they don't even go to their conference championship game. Auburn is already a lock for the SEC western spot since they own the tie breaker on LSU. If Auburn loses and LSU is a one loss team, they won't even play in the SEC championship.

How can LSU play for a title over BSU, TCU and the winner of the Big 12, if they don't even make the SEC championship. Inconceivable.

A one-loss team from the best conference in the nation could definitely make the claim that they deserve to be in the BCS National Championship over an undefeated team playing a cupcake schedule.

Although, I will say that I don't believe LSU is deserving of being in the BCS Title Game. They should have had multiple losses early in the season but were aided by extraordinary luck (UNC having its stars be suspended/kicked off the team, Noel Devine playing hurt for West Virginia, Jeffy Demps being out for Florida, and the Tennessee coach not knowing how to count to 11).

Remember Nebraska went in 2001 after losing to CU the final game of the season and didn't go to the CCG.

Edit: And Oklahoma went in 2003 after losing to K-State in the CCG.

I think your right i remember hearing about it. But the situation hasnt come again yet, so who knows.

But in no way should LSU be considered for the NC game, if they dont even play in their CCG.

How so? The BCS is nothing more than a ranking system to determine which two teams play for the title.

I truly believe there is a rule regarding this. It was a major arguement after we played in the Rose Bowl in 2001 and then reappeared during the 2 loss LSU win I think. I will try to find out about this on Monday.

If we win out, the only teams that should make the MNC before us would be Auburn and Oregon if they win out. TCU and Boise State are good teams, but come one, we would go undefeated and look amazing doing it with their schedules. If we win out, we will have beaten 3 top 15 teams- Missouri, @Oklahoma State, and either OSU or OU in the Big 12 Championship game. We will also have beaten another top 25 team on the road in A&M.

So basically you're saying that LSU should be punished for playing in the best conference in America...

The TWO best teams according to the BCS will play each other in the National Championship.

Whether one of those teams is the second best in its conference is irrelevant.

No, the SEC gets props from the media because they win the National Championship every year.

EDIT: The BCS doesn't care what you and/or I think, LOL. They are going to put the TWO best teams IN THEIR OPINION (based on 2/3 human polls and 1/3 computers) in the National Championship. They aren't going to hold out LSU just because there is a better team in their division preventing them from competing for the SEC championship (Auburn, who by the way, may end up #1 in the BCS).

Alright, let me make myself a bit clearer.

Winning a conference does not necessarily make you better than a team that doesn't win a conference.

You don't punish a team (LSU) for being blocked by the highest ranked team in the nation (Auburn in the scenario that they run the table and Oregon loses).
