I still say people calling every brand of pop "Coke" is a hoax.  Nobody is that dumb.

My father in law lived in Mississippi and called it "coke"

Actual convo

He: Want something to drink?

Me: Yes, what do you have?

He: We have "coke"

Me: Sure, that sounds great

He: What kind?

Me: Just not diet. I hate how it tastes

He: OK, but what kind?

Took awhile, but figured out what was going on

I know people from Prague Ne and they pronounce it preg. So idk .

I always referred to a soft drink as pop ...........is the word soda becoming more frequent?

I grew up saying pop and after 11 years removed I say coke
