PSU the school....where do they go now?

http://www.foxnews.c...-state-scandal/

the University could face some accreidation issues with the lack of institutional control and forthcoming of info....basically the PSU may lose financial aid from the gov't
They'll keep accreditation and funding, they're "too big to fail" but there's going to be some serious changes and oversight I'm sure. Everybody even remotely, tangentially, or grammatically related to this incident is going to get axed....man it must suck to be a fan or student right now.

That's one way it could go, but remember this is taxpayer dollars we are talking about. Your going to have a lot of non college football fans chiming in on this.

Sure you are but at the end of the day it makes much more sense to reform the school and fix it rather than pull even part of its accreditation essentially condemning it to an academic death. We're talking about a school with nearly 100,000 total students...enrolled RIGHT NOW. +Billion$ endowment and at least a million or two alumni. There may be veiled threats at its accreditation or funding to spur change but PSU the school will come out relatively unscathed....probably can't say the same for the football program and athletics department in general though...

I've been thinking about this very topic. The whole scandal is a HUGE blackeye to PSU. Not just in football, but a blackeye to all aspects of the university. Just think of all the kids on the fence, thinking about attending Penn State next fall. Many of those kids will decide against PSU because of this scandal. Same with professors and admin staff for the university itself. And alumni donations will most likely drop off a bit, at least for a while. This scandal won't be fatal to Penn State. But PSU will certainly take a hit for a few years. The thing is, Joe Paterno could have minimized this scandal way back when it was first detected. But he chose the easy path (cover up), not the right path (firing/come clean).
