Punt return. Brilliant or stupid?

Punting down the middle of the field is one of the worst things you can do as a punter. That just gives the returner too much room on the return. Punting to one side wasn't the bad decision. But, having continued lack of execution at the most important times of the game is a sign of bad coaching. 

Well, when your punter has struggled to punt the ball to either sideline, hence the 7 yard punt,  you don't play into MSU's hand when they put 2 returners out there.  

I do understand your thoughts on giving them the whole field to return when punting down the middle but it can also bite you in the a$$ when punting to one side or the other.
