I agree w you nebhawk that pelinis teams had close games against lesser teams and mostly won.
I will disagree w you sharply though, that his seasons were defined by close games. His seasons were defined by blowouts. Huge national TV blowouts.
MR first season is defined by close losses. Against freakin ILLINOISE, and BYU. And a crappy Miami team, sans QB.
We don't run the ball effectively to win close games in the 4th qtr, period. Run the ball better in the first 59 and the games won't be close.
