Purify vs. USC

The first two games, if they go as they should, will get a lot of people playing time. Callahan can mix and match who he wants, and try out a lot of different things.
I agree, we should get many different players in that game, Try out 3 or 4 rb's 7 or 8 wr, and have the backup QB play for at least half the fourth quarter. The goal is to get the offense clicking, and get as many players as much pt as possible.

w/ offense clicking being the most important priority!!

I think history (however brief it is) shows that it takes a while for a receiver to understand this complex offense. I believe purify will make a difference by seasons end, but not really hit the ground running until conference play. That being said, I like what we have with Nunn and Swift and really believe Peterson is going to step up this year as well. He is another size guy that has had a year in the offense and his smarts and his athletic ability will get him on the field at several of the different WR positions.

I think that even though, as you said, Purify won't be fully operational until conference play, I have to imagine he'll be in on at least a handful of plays against USC. Although he will be extremely limited, I think there is a possibility he may have 3 or so balls thrown his way in that game. (perhaps on the aforementioned fade route in the red zone) Against USC I think Nebraksa is going to have to dig deep, use all available talent to the fullest extent, and maybe even run a trick/new play or two.
