QB Dayton Raiola

Interesting that Rhule was at Buford this past weekend. I wonder if some hard conversations were had then.

And from watching Rhule the last couple years, he always seems to have a plan in these situations. I doubt it happens, but I wouldn't be shocked if Jett decommited from Bama this week.

Pretty amazingly strange move this close to signing day. Even this morning I was wondering why our 2026 class wasn't very strong. Now it is even weaker. You didn't see the peer recruiting being done like Trae is doing for the 2027 class. Maybe the Raiola's are reading the tea leaves - the fans are seeing what TJ can offer vs DR. There isn't room for Dayton to play the way the next few years set up - esp if TJ stays. DR, while he has had very good QB ratings, he hasn't performed to the expected 5 star level yet - we've talked about his issues over and over again. Maybe our OL coach is leaving and DR is leaving with him??
Who knows at this point - it will eventually shake out.
Dayton is not even close to starting at a P4 and might struggle to get there at a high level. I don’t think this is a big loss. I watched his national televised game and wasn’t impressed

I think the implication that this could be indicative of greater movements within the family is the real potential loss here rather than Dayton himself. No way he is starting over Lateef or Taylor.

Dylan has beat 1 team that finished with a winning record in two seasons. As long as his uncle is coaching/recruiting here, it doesn’t make sense to have one of the slowest D1 QBs running for his life.

2026:
Indiana, OSU, Washington
@ Illinois, Indiana, Iowa

We had one of the easiest schedules in the BIG this year and our best conference win might end up being NW. I’m all for moving on

Not all of that was Dylan though. We have mediocre pass blockers and many issues stuffing the run. As we have seen though Dylan is far easier to get to then Lateef so his lack of mobility really hurts our OL. But I still think Dylan leaving would be a negative. That is unless Lateef turns out to be a magician these last few games. I am interested.

I think this is the way of CFB now. Dylan came here in a similar way. I expected TJ to move on, I guess not. This is only a problem if they all move on. Dylan has a good arm. As flag FB takes off, maybe that is the place for him. (sort of joking, but maybe not)

I don’t expect much from Lateef these next two games but I’d say the same for Raiola. Dylan’s a good kid but I’m tired of the charade (running out of the tunnel first), the Mahomes stuff is getting old, and I didn’t see a ton of growth this season. Probably more on DH but this offense doesn’t realize you can pass between the hashes.

DH’s offense is better suited with a mobile QB

I 100% agree. He needs to ditch the Mahomes crap and just focus. Mobile QBs pending they can actually throw will obviously be better than just a statue than can throw. I think if Dylan even learned when to throw it away and increased his internal clock of getting rid of the football that may be enough to really transform his game. Even the play on his injury/fumble was almost entirely his fault. If he actually made a good choice and throws it away we probably beat USC. But he just held onto the ball for forever.

I'm not saying our 2026 class is amazing. But, the rankings is mostly due to low numbers, which they have said all along was what was expected. If you look at 247, we are ranked dead last in the B1G. However, if you look at our average rating, we are better than 10 other schools. And...actually that improved after Dayton decommitted.

100% agree. Donovan has held back this program the past 2 years. If that means we lose Dylan and or Dayton I am good with it. Plenty of other good QBs on deck.
