QB race

If you believe everything you read in that book, well then I don't know what to say. I grew up within 60 miles of Brook. I knew him. I have family that lived in his hometown and a cousin that played high school ball with him and graduated with him. There were several things in that book that weren't necessarily lies, but just stretched.

I knew several of the lineman on that team. They all knew who the starter was from the word go and they weren't very happy about it. Brook was the team favorite because he was just a lot nicer guy to be around. Brook and Tommie each had an intramural basketball team. Brook's team was loaded with fellow players especially OL. Tommie's team as I recall didn't have any. Tommie didn't have many friends on the team, but he was very well respected.

There's a huge difference as well from the 95 season to now. Brook and Tommie had each been in TO's offense with Brook entering year 5 and Tommie entering year 4. Neither one of them were transfers from another school with only 1 year of eligibility. Also, there wasn't as much pressure on the QB as there is with BC's offense. We would have won all those games with Matt Turman as QB. Plus, we didn't play a top 5 ranked team by the third game of the season either that has toughest projected defense.

if i remember right TO said on numerous occasions that the starting QB would not loose his spot do to an injury. that was why he started TF in the Orange bowl. TF was listed #1 on the depth chart but there was a battle for the starting position, and TF wasnt named the started until 1 week prior to the season starting and Brook and some of the players actually thought that he was going to be named the starter.

I talked to Aaron Grahmn and Cris Dishman at a football camp that my son attended and asked them about the "qb battle" after they were in the pro's and they both thought that Brook was the better leader his senior year and thought that TO was going to name him starter.

The difference between the 90's situation, and the one we have now is that whether is was Brook or Tommie starting, we would win the national title. With this situation, can you honestly say that Ganz would outperform Keller against a team like SC? I know that Keller has never taken a snap here, but he has gone up against Pac 10 competition and LSU, and it's not like it was at the end of the game, when he could do whatever he wanted. He was STARTING those games. And he almost led them to the win over LSU. I have seen that game 2 or 3 times on ESPN Classic, and his play was just amazing in that game. Would Ganz have played that well? In my opinion no. I like the guy. I love the guts he has. I love that he doesn't give a sh!t about what any of us are saying on here right now, and he still goes out and works his a$$ off to be the starter of the 2008 Huskers. I just don't think that he provides the same kind of on-field ability that Keller will bring when he comes out. Should BC name the starter now? As much as I would like him to, so Keller could get the snaps and be prepared for the season, I say no. Why? I don't want this team to be split because Keller was named the starter in July before camp started. There would be a lot of players who would side with Ganz because he is well liked and has been here for a long time. There would be the others who would side with Keller because he is the better player in their opinion. As long as Callahan names the starter when he says he will, which is 2 or 3 weeks into fall camp, I think he will be fine. I just don't want this to drag out til the week of the Nevada game, and we still are hearing the same stuff we have been since spring ball started in March. GBR
