Can you imagine the potential power, and the potential strength within the league, had the Big 8 schools thought a bit outside the box, and gone in a slightly different direction? Imagine, if you will, if the Big 8 had, instead of looking South, looked West, or looked within... or even looked slightly East? Think about the potential had we tried to lure Iowa or Minnesota... tried to lure Colorado State, and then gone further West and picked off Utah and BYU together? I know they didn't have the eyeballs of the Texas schools... but we've seen that lure has come with a price over the past two years. Would those schools have provided a better stability? Would it be better for the Big 8 schools if we were all still together, and working with other powers from a position of strength... rather than having several working now from a position of weakness... I know several will say 'doesn't matter'. And it doesn't in that sense... but I did forewarn you this was a 'what-if' type of thread.
Thoughts, anyone?
