Frost, Frost, Frost...meh. Nebraska can't afford Frost. The school is still paying off Pelini and will be paying off Eichorn or whatever the old AD's name was, not to mention the millions what Riley and his staff will be collecting along with whatever salary Moos is going to be bringing down over the next year or two. You're looking at a dollar output of at least a couple million a year just paying off bad decisions. You think you can afford to throw a couple million more on top of that (believe me...Frost wouldn't come cheap) while dealing with falling revenue and general apathy from most of the rest of college football toward the Nebraska brand?
Frost isn't stupid. He's in a great position right now. I believe he is the highest paid head coach in a non power five conference. He's in the middle of prime recruiting grounds and if he stays where he is, I think the school will be snapped up in the next round of conference expansions and he'll be a Power Five coach anyway. You may hear him saying he would like to coach at Nebraska but don't you think he knows that UCF hears him saying it (along with Florida and whoever else may be interested) and maybe getting out the calculators to see how much money they can throw at him for him to stay?
Hard as it might be to admit but Nebraska no longer has the money or reputation to pick off a top tier coach and hope they don't get burned (see...Gene Chizik...might be listed under Lying Prick). There are a lot of up and comers in non Power Five and even DII schools who would love a shot at the job. I'd look at places like Troy or Arkansas State or even Appalachia State for my guy.
