Chip would be interesting but Frosty was born on Nebraska soil. Dude has drive and is has a great Football mind.  I would love to see him trolling the sidelines rockin the headset in Lincoln.

That's not what we need. We don't need the hire that feels good. The Bo Pelini hire felt good but didn't bring any titles. Frost's resume is roughly the same as Bo's was back when we hired Bo in 2007.

We need the hire that gives the greatest chance of success and I feel very confident that there's a guy out there with a higher chance of success than Frost.

Maybe not hire a coach that has been or about to be fired this time? Maybe not hire a coach because he is the opposite of his predecessor, and will be easy to work with? Maybe not hire a coach to "fix the defense"?

I don't know. It sounds crazy, but how about hiring the best available? Can we maybe try that?

You can't be serious with the bolded.  Pelini had 1 game of HC experience and zero offensive experience.  Frost has been a successful OC, DC and now HC.  Plus, the list of legendary coaches that he's played for or coached with is way more impressive than Pelini's pedigree.

Plenty of college football coaches struggle right out of the gate in the NFL. You're saying he's terrible based on his NFL performance, I assume.

Kelly's at the top of my list personally. David Shaw and Mark Dantonio come in at 2 & 3, not necessarily in that order. 

Frost is probably 4th for me, honestly. I can't take another unproven coach, no matter how good Frost feels in this moment.

You're absolutely correct in terms of head coaching experience. And I am serious.

But Pelini had been around football as a coach (in any capacity) much longer than Frost. The two things are roughly a wash, IMO.

Again, Frost is not at the top of my list. A proven trophy-winning head coach is.

Eh, I don't really agree with that.

Bo's resume was coordinating good defenses with great or even elite talent.

Frost took an 0-12 team that recruits in the 60-70 range, and got them to a bowl in year 1, and now is ranked and murdering teams in year 2. They lead the country in margin of victory.

Let's put it this way. UCF beat Maryland, a Power 5 team, by 4 touchdowns.

Nebraska hasn't beaten a single Power 5 opponent by that kind of margin in 3 years (45-14 vs Illinois in September of 2015).

Terrible choice is a dumb statement. The guy was 46-7 at Oregon. His show-cause penalty has passed. Frost coached under him as well. He isn't my #1 choice, but I think he would damn sure be a big step up from what we have now.

One season as a Co-DC at Northern Iowa hardly constitutes someone being successful

He's 11-7 as a HC.  Lets pump the brakes on "successful" for now

He is doing a good job at UCF but that 0-12 season is weird.  They went from 12-1 to 9-4 to a goose egg.  That just doesn't happen.  There is more to it, imo.

O'Leary had culture issues there, and he had checked out. They also had lost alot of their best guys, and it snowballed so much that he ended up resigning.

Dave Doeren from NC State would be a good hire.  He has turned that program around and has them ranked again.

Pelini had 16 years of coaching experience after college before TO hired him.  

At the end of this season, Frost will have 13 years of coaching experience after college, plus 6 years of NFL playing experience.

He's looking at two consecutive years of +6 win improvement to the team's record.  And when he was at UNI, they went 12-1 and 12-3.

If we hire Frost, I'm back on board.  Won't need to wait for any winning.  If not, I'll probably follow whatever team Frost is coaching.  I'm a Nebraska Football fan.  Scott Frost's teams are playing the closest thing to Nebraska Football that I've seen.  I'm definitely not a fan of the crap that's been foisted on us for the last 14 years thanks to poor leadership and frankly, basic idiocy or worse, intentional sabotage.  It sure as hell wasn't Nebraska Football.  

If by "Scott Frost's teams" you mean Oregon and University of Central Florida, nobody on Earth has compared their style of football to Nebraska Football. Have you actually "seen" them play?

I actually love that style of offense, and will take the winning every day of the week, but Frost calls the kind of gameplan that loyal fans of vintage Osborne football consider far too multiple and clever to pull off around here. 

If you have chosen only one former player to represent Nebraska football, and will follow him to any other school, you're not a Nebraska Football fan.
