Recent Huskers/NFL transactions

Special Teams Player
This is a *just in case you missed it* on recent NFL transactions involving Huskers.

First, going back to late July, former undrafted FA/Raider/Falcon Eric Johnson signed with the Cardinals. He was a big hit with the Raiders during the BC and Gruden years but was eventually let go. last year he didn't do much with the Falcons except on special teams.

then TWO Huskers quit/retired from their respective teams.

1) according to sports illustrated's site, Josh Sewell "was placed on the exempt list after his agent informed the team he plans on retiring".

and 2) undrafted FA Lornell McPherson cleaned out his locker and left Panthers' training camp.

the last time i can recall one of our guys leaving training camp was Matt Davison (Buffalo Bills).

One that seemed to get a bit more notice on some Husker forums was the Bucs signing Steve Kriewald. He had had a tryout with them in April but didn't get a contract- until now. there are a couple pictures of Kriewald in camp on wireimage.com but they're quite small.

last (for now), the Rams signed John Parrella. Its the twilight of his career but Good luck to him! anything has to be better for a once near-Pro Bowler than playing backup behind a fat a$$ like warren sapp.

also FWIW Incognito still hasn't signed with the Rams. He's not a priority though as he would likely miss this upcoming season with an injury anyway. apparently he's working out in Arizona, at a facility that offers him better recovery equipment than anything the Rams have.

Not really a surprise that he gave up considering the way that he gave up on some plays last season.

These types of things happen to a lot of people. As when they entered college from high school, when they enter the big leagues from college, they are no longer the head fish.

The Arizonia Department of Corrections has better facilites than the Rams????

Who'd a thunk it...

Without a doubt it's difficult and why a lot of guys don't make it. Lornell didn't really show much tenacity or toughness last year so it didn't really surprise me that he couldn't cut the mustard.
