Recruiting Concerns

Im of the opinion that, we shouldnt have to be snagging last second recruits on signing day, we have a had a year to do get this done. Also, you can say what you want about the amount of stars a player has and Nebraska finds diamonds in the rough. Why not get the ones that are right in front of you. Our talent is down, hence we will not be finish the year again in the top 25 in what is a pathetic excuse for an automatic qualifying conference. BIG TEN is nothing to be proud of, and we still are finishing seasons with 3,4 losses each year. We are Nebraska, explain to me why we cant get competitive players, 2 stars, NR, 3 stars, say what you want, the stars matter, take a look at the list each year in the final recruiting standings and you can almost bet where they will end up. I am not talking about a down year for a program, ex. florida 2013, percentages show, good recruiting good results. GBR

Well he's not "active" this semester, is he?

Scholarship will kick in starting next school year I'm guessing.

Newberg broke out all 50 states by average signees over the last eight classes. Again, the top 15 is filled with the usual suspects, but it's the bottom 15 I find most interesting:

36. District of Columbia - 9.9 signees per year
37. Connecticut - 8.8
38. Idaho - 7.4
39. Nebraska - 7.1
40. New Mexico - 4.9
41. Delaware - 3.9
42. West Virginia - 3.4
43. New Hampshire - 1.9
44. Montana - 1.5
45. Wyoming - 0.86
46. South Dakota - 0.75
47. Alaska - 0.5
48. Maine - 0.4
49. North Dakota - 0.4
50. Rhode Island - 0.25

Not only is Nebraska below every other state that has a BCS program except West Virginia - we don't get much help from the border states. Out of the six states bordering Nebraska plus ourselves, three are on this list and don't combine to catch Connecticut.

That just shows the disadvantage we have compared to top programs in the country these days.

It's amazing that we can get the recruiting classes we typically have (somewhere between 18-22) when you consider the high school talent in our state. It just doesn't measure up to what is necessary to win championships year in and year out.

I'm surprised Nebraska is as high as they are with 7.1 kids signing to FBS schools.

There are usually 2-3 Huskers, 2-3 to Ohio and maybe 2-3 combined to Kansas, K State, Iowa and Iowa State.
