If we can limit/eliminate TO's particularly fumbles we will be fine. IIRC, our fumbles have led to approximately 44% of the points scored against us. our first meeting with Wisky saw us giving them 2 drives with less than 25 yrds to go with our fumbles. We still found a way to win.
I think we haven't had the letdown game because we have had to come from behind in 5 our last 6 games. Hell, each one of these was a let down game. We have simply "learned" to win.
One thing I think is really important is to come out fast on O. Beck has said that it takes a while to get going (see 2nd half scoring) because the D usually shows us stuff that we haven't seen before. This has gone on for 12 games. Time for Beck to adjust prior to kick off, not after. Show some wrinkles immediately to force the D to adjust. For once, force teams to change on the fly and scrap their weeks preparation. Nothing would sink Wisky more than a 1st possession drive doing things that we have practiced all year and never shown. We are dangerous enough with Bell,Quince, Rex, Reed, AA, Cross, Martinez, Cotton etc. Now imagine a whole new set of plays and formations (wrinkles) that they haven't seen. Keep it up until it they stop it and then, BAM, go back to what they couldn't stop the first meeting.
Their QB, either one, isn't good enough to beat us with their arm. Cheat up the safeties in run support, Caveman causing havoc in the backfield to disrupt the run game and watch for their play action and double moves by Abracadabra. As Evans said, he doesn't have many tells. You have to play him honest. I think Evans is up to the challenge. getting no conference honors has a way of making a competitor step up and prove folks wrong on the field. Slowing Abracadabra would have a way of doing that.
DL has to play large. Wisky's front is HUGE. Baker had a huge game that day. Hope Wiliams, Rome, Randle etc can step in and step up. Key is to clog and not allow their OL to get to our second level untouched. Ball didn't get those TD's by being a poor runner.
I know it means getting our D on the field quicker, but I would go uptempo. Have plays that we can run without subbing in to prevent Wisky from subbing. Wear them out.
