Regardless of what most of the armchair coaches say..

This offense could be decent here if:

1) we had a decent OC

2) if they believed in the running game as something more than a compliment to slinging the rock, and

3) if the "heave it downfield and pray that your guy makes a great catch" wasn't their favorite play.

There is a reason why they are sub .500.

1) Langsdorf did a pretty good job today. We certainly didn't score 41 points because of our defense.

2) 26 pass attempts, 39 rush attempts.

3) I'd have to rewatch this play, but I don't think we saw the heave it down the field and hope for a miracle catch play too much this game. Maybe 3-4 times.

Can't wait until we beat NW next week so sub .500 can't be used. It's annoying and petty, just enjoy the win for a change.
1) let's not forget that Minnesota sucks.

2) that's nice. But it's only one game. When it becomes a staple of this offense then we might be cooking with peanut oil. Someone may want to check the Minneapolis hospitals, Langsahan may have had a coronary from calling that many running plays.

3) Full disclosure, didn't watch the game,, went fishing as I said I would. Almost every pass play I saw on the highlights was the "heave/prayer" pass. This game, we came out on the good end unlike the past couple of weeks.

I hope we beat NW, they aren't that good. Maybe he can get back to .500.

And I agree, using numbers to refer to a coach is childish and petty.
Oh baloney. This is coming from someone who has said many, many, many times he thought Kill was better than Riley.

"1) let's not forget that Minnesota sucks."

Backtrack all you want there buddy, and why you "went fishing" instead. Must have been too painful to watch NU beat the snot out of them. I say them because you definitely are not one of us.

Anything else you said or do say is just bullsh#t and trolling.

Good game today. I'm trying to focus on improvements I am seeing. The motion plays/sweeps were much better executed today so much in fact that Newby got his big TD run off of a well executed one. Prior we have been high snapping the ball and the timing of the sweep with the QB was not in sync. It looked much better today. The DL looks like it continues to play better. Because of injuries we have had on the DL it now seems like we have some depth there as we get people back from injury and we can move guys around on the DL. Tackling is better than last year as well as run defense. I know many would like us to run the ball much more. Honestly I look at it and we don't have the OL and RB's at the level of teams like LSU and Alabama who can run it consistently well. We have to be able to move the ball on the ground and in the air with what we have. Our big plays will likely come through the air with DPE and Westy and Moore has improved. Making Tommy a runner is smart so we need to continue with TA being a running threat. Continue to use Jano as a runner also. The secondary unfortunately looks like it still has major issues. We need OL and DB and those are areas I would recruit heavily.

Glad to get this win and the broken chair trophy!

Actually no, spending time with my grandfather trumps college football.

I mean, it's not like Minnesota was going out there and getting 40+ put up on them every week. This Minnesota team played TCU and held them to 24. I'd say us putting up 41 points on them is actually pretty good, despite the fact that Minnesota (apparently) sucks.

Well maybe winning using this 60/40 run/pass means we'll see this more often.

Nebraska has WRs that can make catches. A few were one-on-one coverages and with those you have to trust your guy to beat their guy and today we did.

While I have you agreeing that using numbers to refer to a coach is child and petty, can we agree that morphing a coach's name to fit a previous coach is also petty and childish?
Oh, so now suddenly we aren't devoid of talent? Which of nice Mike's classes came in and flooded the program with upper echelon talent?

No, morphing a coach to fit a previous coach isn't childish. It's called reality. I realize that many don't reside there but whatevs.

You seem upset. There'll be brighter days, I suppose. I'm sorry if this week isn't one of those.

I mean this sincerely, because I don't want to see anybody so miserable: you may need to sit this week out.

If Northwestern sweeps the floor with us, we'll all be a lot more critical. If not then, there's always Nov. 7th and Michigan State (maybe).

There's nothing to be done about the record prior to today, but this is the kind of game we've been waiting to see the Huskers put together -- against a well-coached team that has beaten us each of the last two, no less. It's not perfect, but it was a good result.

A sincere thanks to whomever decided to include the IGNORE function on this board. It has allowed me to enjoy this thread. So simple, yet so powerful.

Thanks.

I wasn't a fan of the 3 passes but it ended up working out for us. I will say this though, I think Armstrong is a very serviceable QB for us and will cheer him on but can you imagine what this offense could look like with a pure pocket passer that is mobile? If we can keep the ground game going along with a QB that isn't so hit and miss, we would be damn tough to stop.

Minnesota is no powerhouse but it was VERY important to put them in their place and end their streak against us. We dominated them with a MASH unit on D too. Nothing to take for granted. Great win because we had to have it.

Yup, this.

Hip, hip, hooray.....we sqeaked out a win against a bad team, and now we may just hit .500, for the year.
The thing is, you have to give credit where credit is due. None of us liked the start, but if the team builds, and plays like they did yesterday, we could win the division. Not this season of course, but you kind of glimpse what the team could be going forward. And that is the right attitude I think.

Is it possible to call an entire game without something the fans will complain about? I doubt it is.
When the moved the ball the play calling was excellent.

When they didn't move the ball, the play calling was suspect. I still can't believe they called that play that would have Janovich dribble the ball and then run for a first down.

Wasn't that something like a 3rd and 6 on our own 10 yard line? That was unexpected.
