Remember when 10-4 seemed like a dream?

So because we are better then we were when we finished 5-7 we are supposed to be happy? We were a Top 10 team earlier in the year and now we won't even finish in the Top 25. I'm supposed to be happy about that because we are better then the 5-7 team of 2007? We lost games we should have won and I'm supposed to be satisfied because we aren't as bad as that team that gave up and got embarrassed by teams? This team played uninspired ball half of the season and gave up in the bowl game and I'm supposed to just say "golly gee that is alright because we are playing better then we did under Callahan and Coz"?

Sorry not going to happen. This season was a HUGE disappointment just like the 2007 season. IMO

you mean the 2007 that was 3 years a ago? yes, i do think your supposed to be happy with a 5 win improvement over a 3 year period under a new coach. we were lucky we had the dominate defense we had last year, and we couldnt reasonably expect to have that kind of performance again. its still a process and the fact that your comparing a 10-4 season to a 5-7 season without a bowl is mind-numbing

If this team didn't have the defense it did and play a bunch of crappy teams that 5 game improvement wouldn't have been possible. <_< This season was a HUGE letdown and if you don't think it was then I guess I have higher expectations for the University of Nebraska. Also I don't understand how saying "I'm supposed to be happy because we are better then that crappy 5-7 team" is comparing the 2 teams. Never once compared them just said it is lame to think we should be happy because we improved over that terrible team and that both seasons were HUGE disappointments. The fact that people are happy with a team losing 4 games it should have won and laying turds in 3 others games is mind-numbing if you ask me. This is FREAKING NEBRASKA nobody should settle with being happy with this season just because it is better then the crap that went down in 2007. Losing to the worst Texas team in recent history or a terrible Washington team should not make anybody happy, even though we are better then the 2007 team. :moreinteresting

Well I find it frustrating that we did not make any progress this season. I would of been happy enough with an 11 win season and a victory over washington.

the loss to Texas and A&M was pathetic....it was the beginning of the end of our season.

be happy with the improvement. dont forget what bo and company has been able to do in three short years. look where michigan's at over that same time frame.

there WILL be disappointments and yes we did have a few towards the end of the year. but all-in-all, i was pretty dang happy with the overall results with this season. we hit double digit wins and made it to the conference championship. we steam rolled our rivals and really left no question that we were the best team in the north.

im just saying we dont have to fly off the handle after a surreal ending to an otherwise successful year.

Instead of saying “we could be Michigan or Notre Dame” why not say “we SHOULD be where Bama, Florida, OU, USC and even flipping Auburn” were in the first 3 years after new staffs took over those programs. Even Texas after Mack Brown took over went from a losing season to finishing in the Top 25 every year until this year. This will be the 2nd time in 3 years we are not even ranked at the end of the year. That is ridiculous if you ask me. Saban year 3 National Championship, Bob Stoops year 2 National Championship, Urban Meyer year 2 National Championship, Freaking Gene Chizik year 2 National Championship game, and Pete Carroll year 3 split National Championship. Why not want that instead of being happy not being ranked again and losing a terrible bowl game to a terrible Washington team?

This is year 3 we should not be taking steps back or spinning our wheels. We should be moving forward. Losing to the worst Texas team since 1997, an average Texas A&M team, a terrible Washington team in probably the worst Bowl loss ever*, and struggling with horrible SDSU, KU, ISU teams is not moving forward. IMO

Yes I know how long it took T.O. to win a National Championship but T.O. was ranked in the Top 25 every year and dare I say every week he coached at Nebraska.

*Worst bowl loss = worst team we have lost to in a Bowl game.

I learned a while back that you can't be National Champs every year, granted it has been done, but a program has its high points and low points. I was pretty upset after the Oklahoma loss and the Washington loss. But once i looked at our 10 - 4 record and let it set in, i was over it. It has been an ugly year, we expected it, granted not the way we thought it would be ugly, but there is nothing we can do about it now. Complaining won't change anything and I am happy we went 10 - 4.

I don't think we expected it though. Before the season began I saw us favored in every single game on our schedule, except maybe Texas - but that was a home game so I was confident and hopeful. I knew we'd lay an egg at least once because that's what this offense does.

Then the season started, and Texas went into the crapper and I really thought we could clean the table until the Big12 championship game. Still figured we'd lay an egg, but I never thought we'd lose 4 times this season. If you had told me at the beginning of the season that a Bo Pelini coached team - one that finished really strong the prior 2 years - would lose 3 out of it's last 4 games I'd have bet the house against it.

And all this about it taking TO so many years to win the big one...?...remember, he NEVER ONCE lost 4 games in a single season. Heck he went 18 seasons before he had a team finish ranked outside the top 10. Bo has yet to have a season with less than 4 losses. (don't take this as dogging on Bo) But TO's early years aren't really a very good argument unless we are talking ENTIRELY about national championships. TO had some big wins over Oklahoma early. Nebraska was coming of the high of winning NC's, not the lows of being unranked year in and year out. Entirely different environment Bo finds himself in.

I'm sure there's a few of these. The two games before this one were against #8 Colorado and #13 Kansas. Results: 52-7, 49-7. How long has it been since we put a beat down on a top-25 team like that?

I remember when 10-4 seemed like a (repeating) bad dream..But we were s l o w l y breaking in Tom Osborn and that seemed to be about as bad as the first decade ever got..or ever until he retired.

No, because as I said he never had 4 losses and wasn't finishing out of the top 10. We'd all slowly break Bo in at TO's pace if he wanted to put up 17 straight years of top 10 teams
