Even the best crews can get caught out of position or don't agree on what they saw. Replay lets them see it again. IMO, it has nothing to do with being competent. If the ref won't use it because he is self conscious, maybe he shouldn't be officiating.

You might wonder that, but it really just comesdown to them being as professional as possible. I think that replay has become such the norm in the pros that any stigma that once was attached to it has pretty much faded. And most of the college refs had known it was coming some day; they've had time to adjust to it in that respect.

I dont know what their issue with the headphone is anyways, it just speeds up games.
