We took our foot off the pedal in both the Kansas game and the Okie Light game, just in different ways... in the Okie Light game our scheme changed to more of a protection gameplan and we simply quit attacking.

The Kansas game was more of a player issue and not a coaching one. The coaches didn't let up in the Kansas game but some of the players felt they could half a$$ it and continue to do all game what they did in the first fifteen minutes. The defensive players most significantly, clearly took things down a notch and tried to coast, and once they realized they couldn't do that the momentum had turned and our guys had a hard time getting back into their groove and the flow of the game.

I have to disagree as well. I was at the KU/Nebraska game and the NU players NEVER let up. That is the biggest cop out statement ever. The teams were evenly matched. Nu jumped out to their big lead early off turnovers, after that, it was a sluggfest. Sloppy defense the whole way through. I'm tired of listening to this "taking the foot off the pedal theory". I would give your coach more credit than that. That's something Coach C wouldn't allow. Just admit that KU was a whole lot better than you originally thought Blackshirt316. No more pedal statements...please!

PEDAL PEDAL PEDAL PEDAL, It looked to me in the games I got to watch that our team had letdowns after half in quite a few of those games. Was it intentional or just better adjustments by the other team??? No matter what it was it needs rectfied this year if we are to compete for titles including the North title. There are no push over games in conference play. Each and every team can beat you if you do not play with your A game every day.

KU game I thought Callahan called a magnificent game. Coz was schooled though in that 2nd half. KU made adjustments after half and found some things that worked. Biggest in my mind being that little counter that Cornish kept cutting back on. We never did quite adjust to it. Then they had the gall to pass off that look with a 3rd string QB.

Cally and Taylor just used that poor CB on the left side.

In the OSU game, didn't we like have corners with casts on and linebackers limping around? We looked mighty slow that game and didn't do a good job on the perimeter me thinks. Cory Mac was just coming back from a sprain ankle. Rudd and Bradley were slowed by minor ailments. Isn't that the game where we lost Dillard too? If I remember correctly, we didn't have Octo as well. Still no excuse for the low scoring second half. Offensive struggled with consistency that game if memory serves me right.

No disrespect Blackshirt316, but the Huskers didn't take their foot off the pedal against Kansas.

Actually, the offense took their foot off the pedal against every team we played this last season (except Texas, I suppose). It's the reason why we all got so PO'ed at Coach Callahan in those games the opponents got back into. Kansas, we had all the momentum on you guys, and the offense took it down a notch . . . and your boys were back into it. It happened against Texas A&M and Auburn, and to a lesser extent, USC (that was more a matter of not having a foot on the pedal the whole game).

Anyway, on-topic: I don't think Oklahoma State is going to be much of a challenge for us this year. They've got a bunch of skill players returning, but then again, so do we. I don't think we have anything to fear from their defense, and as long as we have D-backs that are willing to challenge the receivers even a LITTLE bit, no one will be able to throw the ball all over us like last season. And it's in Lincoln, which makes 90% of the difference against these "B minus" teams (no offense, Okie State fans).
