Rex Burkhead

Shaunk2007

Three-Star Recruit
Why is Rex Burkhead so good? He is an undersized white kid from Texas and he is ripping it up at the running back position. He isn't the biggest or fastest kid on the team so why is he so good? I am not sure but I think he is so good because he has tremendous vision as a runner and he has a high football IQ. What do you guys think? What makes Burkhead so good? The deck is stacked against him but he still just rips it up.

I'll bet he can't hear Jimmy, either.

He's a downhill runner that hits the holes really hard and always falls forward.

He just slams into that line a lot better than helu in my opinion. Helu is a little better in the open field though.

I like him a lot, but I'm not sure he's "so good" yet.

He does seem smart and versatile, so he may not need to be the guy you send into the line 25 carries a game.

Seems like only a year ago we were chatting like this about Helu and Castille.

He's good for the same reason Boise State is good. He just wants it more than anyone else. I read an interesting article on ESPN the other day that was talking about why 3 star recruits often times make better college players than 4 and 5 star recruits. It's simple. It's heart and desire.

IMO, a combination of things. First, work ethic. Second, he wants it bad enough. Third, he reads the field well. Fourth, when he does see the opening, he makes a decisive cut with a quick burst. Add onto that a hard edge and an offensive line which performs, you have Rex Burkhead.

He may not be the flashiest guy in the conference, but I expect surprising things from him.
