Rhule finally feels like the "right coach" for Nebraska

Well if you remember, Suh was going to leave and from what has been told Suh had one foot out the door. Bo, apparently, got him to come back and stay. As far as how much credit? I don't know, I mean, he did not get him here initially, so that does take away a lot of the credit.

WIth that said, Bo had some nasty DL and DE's. Suh, Crick, VV, The twin guys, RG...he had some dudes that could play.
 
Back to Rhule, I am interested to see how this trend I have seen with him continues or diverges in year 3 at Nebraska. These numbers were mid last year, and we went 2-4 after I posted this, so his overall record as a college HC is 59-56 if math serves me. I still don't buy the label "program builder" simply from results on the field, given what he had to work with at these other schools. More like "tears something down to make it back similar to what it was but in his own image". I do like some trending things here at Nebraska, but the record against ranked teams is a giant black eye overall for him. Let's see if he can actually take the next step or if he is only capable of beating similar or lesser teams.

That equates to 28-11 over the 3 years leading up, then Rhule went 19-20 at Baylor. Yes there were extenuating circumstances at Baylor with off field issues, but it was a winning program football wise before him. Not sure that qualifies as program building either.

We all know the Nebraska history prior to his arrival.

Rhule is now 2-21 against ranked teams, and is just slightly over .500 as a college head coach in 9 years. I am not giving up on him turning the corner just yet, but at some point you are what your record says you are.

I don't really get the program builder thing either and honestly Husker fans have got this weird idea that NU needs some "program builder"

They just need a good coach, that is it.

I will give him credit for winning at Temple, that place sucks.

Either I didn’t know about Suh leaving or I forgot. Guess he was tight with Callahan. Coaching changes are so emotional for players, yet I don’t remember anything players upset when Riley left.

Bo had some talent. He seemed to get some dudes like Gregory and L David that might have been under the radar. David I think was a Juco and I don’t remember anything about him being recruited.

He was a good coach then, but he was going to die if he stayed. There’s a reason he hasn’t found much success since he left. I guess the fans and the media ruined him.

You're killing it with the bad takes today. Bo deserves virtually all of the credit for Suh besides Suh himself, who in fact wasn't developing himself and in two years under Callahan was quite pedestrian and significantly falling short of his potential as a recruit, was about to leave, and was developed by Bo's staff into possibly the greatest defensive player ever.

Also, Burkhead was a four star.

I'll second your opinion on Suh's development. I got to see him every year in camps and it was pretty amazing the change in him through the years. Bo and team deserve credit there for the development.

Was not. He was a 3.

And Suh was going to be great wherever he was. And you don’t really have any takes to dislike- so there’s that.
