Rhule to Penn State?

If anything, I think he’s using the Penn State possibility a platform to ad I ate for for NIL $ and not for his own pocketbook. And good on him- a very savy move.

And it makes me warm to him a bit. He wants to win here and knows that $ makes the world go round.. That is how I feel he shaped his responses in today's presser anyway. If he was only placating pending a PSU to offer, why would he discuss how we’ve been the the pioneers of innovation and now there’s a new frontier we need to go after?

And, of course, I think the University/Athletic Department is giving him basically everything they can. It's really up to some donors to step up and push the NIL to the next level. Which, it would stand to reason, winning more would encourage.

My two cents: Currently, I'd love for Rhule to stay. He seems like he enjoys being at NU, seems NU is on an upward trajectory, and the coaches and team seem to have a good bit of comradery.

However, I think there are solid current head coaches out there that might consider NU as an upgrade to their current situation. The top name that comes to my mind is Fran Brown, but there are others. Sure, there could be a half step back or so with new staff (would love for new staff to realize the importance of Ekeler), yet a quality coach will hire a quality staff.

If Rhule went to PSU after this year (which I don't anticipate), I think he would do a great job there.

I don't want him to go, but I would understand.

I see Rhule as more of a program "builder", mainly because he hasn't stayed in one place more than 3 years, and thus cannot prove his 5 year plan would be successful or not. So I view it as a plus for staying, if for nothing else than finishing it out to find out. I also think his relationship with the PSU AD is not a major driver because I can't imagine too many heavy hitting donors are all that impressed with his overall record, and the egos involved with big money aren't going to "settle" for anything other than a BIG NAME. Also agree with other posters that he genuinely looks out for his players, and likely would use whatever leverage he has to increase the NIL pot, or fiind other ways to enhance the players experience.
It's certainly possible I'm being pollyanish, but I believe he stays.

The Rhule-Kraft relationship is interesting as Kraft is not very creative in his hiring of coaches. (He didn't hire Rhule)

His best ever hire is likely Geoff Collins (whom he was introduced to by Rhule). He hired Aaron McKie to be the head coach of TU Basketball and he's a school legend and was an assistant. He hired Rod Carey and it was a disaster, he hired Manny Diaz for two weeks, hired Earl Grant for BC Hoops then tried to hire him again at Penn State. He brought his baseball coach from BC to Penn State.

His track record is not great

I wonder if Rhule also saw the complete failure at his alma mater and wants none of that. Pressure to win is there at PSU for sure. They pulled a NU and fired their "Solich". Then watched as we ate the prodigal son....I think whoever the next coach is will be on the hot seat from day 1 week 1. He took over NU that had gone 30-50 the previous 8 years. Bar was low. Rebuild, bowling, growth. Year 2 7-6 w/bowl win. Year 3? Who knows, but 1st 4th quarter comeback since 2017, first time with 5 wins in 3 seasons since Bo, top rated pass D, ST killing it, record setting QB etc.....Demoted OC, fired ST coach, hired new OC....He's working it. Day by day.....Just needs the NIL $ to get "better and better"....

I b!^@h about Rhule, but he's improving and that can't be denied.

IMO, this could be a powerful move for Rhule if he stays with Nebraska. I think it would send echoes throughout college football. It will be a game changing move.

Rhule will get more money on his contract from Nebraska, no doubt. If he declines his alma mater to stay at Nebraska, I really do believe that will shift more power to Nebraska and accelerate the momentum he has been building this third year.

It's hands down a dream job for Rhule; his alma mater. I wouldn't blame him one second for taking the job. However, I really believe he would build something more powerful at Nebraska if he stays, knowing the staff he brought in, the work he has put in, and the time he has put in. It would send a strong signal to the overall college football world.

I think this guarantees we are going on a run, first 10/11 win season in a long time because that'll mean the coach bolts and that's what the football gods do to us. I'm here for it though! Let's get a playoff appearance in.
