Rhule to Penn State?

This is almost certainly the actual outcome of all of this, on our end anyway.

But the Cignetti news makes me hope it happens sooner rather than later. Something something if you want it you should put a ring on it, or however that goes...
I’m leaning -1 rep for quoting Beyoncé Toes 😂

He still just won't say he's out.

Matt Rhule is not bad with words and he still won't take his name out of the running.
When he gets more NIL to improve the roster, stadium renovation funded and commences, and he gets an extension I bet he will. Right now he has the leverage and power. If the team keeps winning it will only grow.

Fanbase of a team that midway through the season has yet to beat a P4 opponent sneers at coach that accomplished that in week 1...

Fun fact: there's still Penn State fans trying to discredit Sandusky's accusers. Literally today.

I think Joe Paterno earned all the heat that came from Sandusky's creepy and felonious actions. Joe was a revered molder-of-young-men with a side career as an inspirational speaker and man of faith. Yet when given a clear choice between Doing the Right Thing and shielding Penn State football, Joe chose to protect a serial pedophile and further traumatize innocent young kids. I remember Paterno telling the press "don't worry, we've got this" as if punishing Sandusky was the school's decision rather than the legal system's. Then again, discrediting victims is back in vogue these days.

The more I see Cignetti's interviews the more I like him. Is happy with where he is at and will "win where he is" doesn't need to go somewhere to do it, doesn't need to go back to his alma mater...said he'll retire where he is and you can feel that he's telling the truth. Be like Curt, Rhule. I'll just say this, I have a lot of respect for Rhule at this point...if he leaves to go to Penn St I'll lose all of it. Not because he's spurning my school but because he didn't follow through with what he said and why we brought him here. If this were years down the road and the penn st job opened up and he took it that would be completely different.

You don't get to pick when your dream job opens. Opportunity knocks and you take it. Losing respect for a guy doing that just isn't right IMO, wouldn't you do the same thing if offered?

He's done a lot of good things for us already, and he doesn't owe us anything but the terms of the buyout.

My read of the tea leaves is that NU cannot, or will not, spend 30 million per year on the football roster to be more than a 9 or 10 win team like Oregon, Ohio State and apparently now Indiana. I'll be shocked if the checkbook opens up that much in the near future.

If it doesn't open up, NU doesn't want to win. Rhule is out. In the new age of NIL a good coach can only do so much. He mentioned the roster money for a reason.
