Rivals preseason top 25 for next year

Looks like Rivals wants the QB they rated a :star :star :star :star in 2009. Time will tell I guess.
:yeah Probably a lot of truth to that...I am just glad they didn't rank us any higher at this point, or I would say there was too much sugar in the :koolaid2: .

Any time a team wins out in the big 12 they will be playing for a title. The Big 12 ranks only behind the SEC for Texas alone. Look at the Pac 10...USC has been carrying that conference's reputation with the media for years (things have changed now). Anyway let em rank us high. I am puzzled by Boise St #3. They win was not impressive over TCU to end the season. Plus they lost their D coordinator. But whatever. They'll remain high because they play NO ONE all year.

Arkansas also is a strange pick. How does a team with only a qb and no defense hope to survive in that conference? Navy is a surprise too. They finished the season strong but they're losing a lot of talent. Nice to see them getting some love though.
I think Boise returns 21 of 22 starters and they went 12 or 13-0. They beat Oregon early and then TCU late and I think they beat BYU too, so they did everything they were suppose to do but were from a non-BCS conference so they didn't get the props they deserved. They have two tough games next year and will be up there in the standings if they run the table.

BSU has VT for the opening game and then OSU, that is about it, so they will be in good shape if they win the opening game in DC against VT.

I agree with almost everybody else, being ranked fifth is much too high. It goes without saying that we lose some serious talent on the defensive side of the ball, and our offense is nowhere near top 5 material. I'm not saying that we don't have the potential to be ranked this high, as I expect the offense to be much improved. Don't sleep on Cody Green, it wouldn't surprise me to see him have a terrific spring ball, and put some serious pressure on Zac Lee. Our offense is transforming into one that demands a mobile quarterback, and Lee just doesn't cut it in that department. I would also really like to see Tray Robinson establish himself as a back who deserves carries. I'm a big fan of having three capable backs that get carries, and I know Watson believes in that philosophy too. It should be a very intriguing matchup to see who grabs hold of the third running back between Tray Robinson and Braylon Heard.

No Kool-Aid, just my honest football opinion...I will consider the 2010 season a disappointment if we fail to win the Big Twelve Championship.
I think Bo is steering us that direction too! I can't wait to see Green, Spano & Martinez this spring.

i think #5 is too low. we really should be #1 since that's where we are going to end up at the end of the season when we win the national championship game

Im not sure why people think of this as a bad thing. Its awesome seeing the 'skers back in the top 5, even if its just another meaningless preseason poll. It shows that the nation respects us and Bo's Defense. All this ranking does is add excitement which is near impossible cause Im already pumped for this season.

This is an awesome prediction. But I see us probably around 8-10. Regardless, after those ridiculous losses last year (cough 9-7 ISU) and an Amazing finish with a shut-out bowl, I cannot wait till the next season to start already..

I think 5 is a little high, but Bo has really improved the team and it is not an unreasonable prediciton, just maybe optimistic. Regardless, Nebraska really had a good year and I think they will be really tough next year....

Enough of these preseason prognostications...

LETS PLAY SOME DAMN FOOTBALL ALREADY!!!!!!!!!!!!
Best to calm it down a notch, or you're in for a very, very, very long off-season. Might I suggest hibernation?

3 teams ahead of NU do not play in conference championships. So that is good news if there is a log jam of teams that are undefeated at the end of the season. If NU runs the table from this pre-season spot a late win in the Big 12 CG would give us a shot in the NC game.

I know it is a long off-season but I like starting from no. 5 spot rather than no. 25 or outside of the top 25.

Nah, i'll do no such thing. Until we play game one, then all these "where are we gonna end up in the top 25" threads are kinda pointless...
