Roby Out 6-8 Weeks with Stress Fracture

Nebraska freshman Isaiah Roby will be sidelined 6-8 weeks as he recovers from a stress fracture in his pelvis, Nebraska men's basketball coach Tim Miles confirmed Monday.


The injury, Miles said, is the result of wear and tear on Roby's body, not from a recent particular incident.

"He's been feeling it for several months, back to his high school days," Miles said. "He's been complaining about his hip, and we looked at his hips and tested everything out, and his hips were good. So then we did the MRI and X-Ray and found it."

The only cure, Miles said, is rest and no contact.

Roby, a 6-foot-8, 205-pound forward from Dixon, Illinois, was ranked No. 89 nationally by Scout.com and was a four-star recruit according to Scout and Rivals.com. Roby committed to Nebraska prior to his junior season.

Today is 6 weeks...

Nebraska hopes to find out soon about a timeline for the return to action of men’s basketball freshman Isaiah Roby.

The 6-foot-8, 205-pound wing is scheduled for an MRI later week. He has been sidelined since mid-July after reporting pain in his hip and pelvis that was diagnosed as a stress reaction.

“He hasn’t been able to do anything, other than lift upper-body weights,’’ NU coach Tim Miles said Monday. “We’re being very cautious with this.’’

Roby has been touted as an immediate contributor. He led Dixon (Illinois) High to last spring’s regional finals while averaging 12.8 points, 9.8 rebounds and 3.7 blocked shots a game.

Still not even cleared to run. Likely another month before he's back on the court - assuming progress continues.

 
this is turning into the Bo Pelini era. One great season of progress, then nothing but coaching and player departures, and every time seems we get a great player, we cant even get them on the court.
