Australia -- An elderly Australian woman who last week failed to return to her nursing home from a short stroll has been found safe some 3,000 kilometres (1,860 miles) away, police said.
Police said the woman was found Sunday night wandering along a Brisbane street in an apparently disoriented state.
Investigators are still unsure how Mary Colthup, 79, managed to make her way from the southern city of Melbourne to northern Brisbane after failing to return to her nursing home on Tuesday.
"It's believed she got to Queensland by train although police are still trying to establish exactly what happened between the time she left the nursing home and when she was found," a police spokesman said.
The woman is currently being monitored in a Queensland hospital.
