Not too long ago USC had a disasterous record, meaning  losing seasons.
Correct, but NU never had this problem UNTIL billy c arrived in Lincoln. Sure 2002 sucked, but that was a blip on the radar screen, and NU was working its way out of that hole, by moving forward. NU took a HUGE step back when billy c. came to town.

Remember, TO changed the offense in '77 to a pass oriented, Ferrogama led club.  There was a time that he was almost run out of town and interviewed for the CU job becasue of a certain powerful alumnus from Omaha.  Are you glad he stayed?  Give this AD and his coaches a chance!
I think that the same analogy should be used for Solich, not callahan. billy c. led NU to its worst record in 40 years, he was responsible for not going to a bowl game, the program may not have been a top 10 program in 02 and 03, but it wasnt a 5-6 team, either. The program may have bent, but it wasnt broken until billy c.

We played freakin 14 games in 02. If it wasn't for the three cupcakes in the non conference we would of not went to a bowl and had a losing season. This is getting really old. Different day same arguement. :bang

I guess some people (not even being fans) will hold on to something that would never had borne fruit. Had Perlman not hired Peterson, NU would NEVER again win the North, let alone the Conference. Taylor was interviewed recently and said he would NOT have come to the Huskers is not for the new offense. I really wish Solich a success in his last few years of coaching, but thank goodness we didn't wait to make a change any longer. Is this board going to be peppered with anti-BC comments from now on? What does it accomplish? If you hate Peterson and Callahan so much, why not go to another message board that welcomes the Husker bashing!

if, if, if, if, if, if........ :bang

In 02, they did go to a bowl, I dont care about if we didnt play this team, or if we didnt do that. It doesnt matter.

I bet that they would have won the North last year, probably would have been 10-3, 9-4, 11-2 somewhere along that lines, and played in Dallas, SA, or SD for the holidays, if billy c wasnt roaming around Lincoln.

Besides, how did they fare last year???

Taylor was interviewed recently and said he would NOT have come to the Huskers is not for the new offense.
Big deal. When he actually faces a live, talented defense and takes a hit, we will see how good he is. He couldnt cut it a Wake, so do you really think that he is a guy who can lead a major program to the promised land????

Its called the First Amendment, have you heard of it?? :thumbs Its called a debate of ideas. I know that lots of people dont like it, but its good for you. Heres a newsflash, everyone is different, and well some of us, have differing views. Sorry to burst your bubble.

He didn't "not cut it", but I am sure he appreciates your sentiment. :sarcasm

After Taylor's redshirt season, though, the very thing he feared at OSU happened at Wake. The Demon Deacons changed offensive coordinators and went from throwing the ball dozens of times a game to as few as six. Taylor played sparingly as the back-up, appearing in only three games and completing the only pass he attempted.

Its kind of like how the majority of you all treated Dailey, wouldnt you say?????

So now Texas Tech is Medicore? This wouldn't be the same Texas Tech team that beat an almost rose bowl bound California team (had it not been for Mack Brown whining like a little girl to the media) would it?
Yep, the same team that lost to New Mexico, who finished 4th in the Big 12 South, and who lost to UT by 30. Yes, they ARE mediocre.
Well then i guess according to you, medicority is going to a bowl game every year since the conference was formed, whereas no other team can claim that in the Big12.

Yup, sure sign of medicority

NU could make that statement, well, before the billy c regime, anyhow.
Which proves his point, doesn't it?
Well, according to puderson, and alot of the so-called "fans" that is exactly what NU was, mediocre. Thats why Solich was fired, right???

So with a similar record of acheivement, NU was mediocre, and Tech was somehow better than mediocre. Gotcha, makes sense now :sarcasm

I thought you didn't care about the IF's?

Zac Taylor "didnt cut it," because Wake switched to an option oriented running offense. You know, the kind that Taylor said he wouldnt have played for at Nebraska, so he transferred, and we are the benficiary of that. I will tell you this much. We dont sign Dillard, Tomerlin, Bowman, Octavien, Lucky, Jackson, Suh, or Turner if Solich is still head coach. For your benefit I didnt include any lowly regarded or passing oriented recruits. Instead we sign a bunch of academic non qaulifiers and about 8 guys from Nebraska who couldnt get an offer from Iowa State, let alone USC or Florida State, along with two guys who didnt make the top 100 list in Texas and one or two highly regarded players, one from Omaha and the other from Kansas or Iowa. This kind of recruiting will not get Nebraska back to where it needs to be. At least in TO's day we could go down into Florida and get a Frasier, or into California and get a Larry, or into New Jersey and get some Peter brothers. The only way Solich could get ONE decent recruiting class is if it fell into our lap because there were alot of talented players in our geographical locale. I for one refuse to accept that form of mediocrity.
