Rumor has it..

I have heard the same "rumors" about the Callahan/Watson and Cosgrove/Wyatt incidents from a pretty reliable source. I was hesitant to post them here but since the cat is out of the bag...at least it wasn't me that spilled the beans.

Redic, if our coaching staff isnt on the same page, the players arent going to be on the same page, get em out

Callahan needs to let Watson call the plays from the booth while he is able to manage his team and assistants on the sidelines. Watson is a very capable OC. He sees a lot more in the booth than Callahan does on the sideline.

I concur.

Since we are talking about rumors, and i know a rumor is just that, but i wanted to see if anyone else had heard what i had that the Buccaneers were going to be making an offensive position available to BC at the end of this year. I am told that is floating around UNL's campus pretty heavily. Anyone heard anything about this?
If Tampa Bay wants their offense to have a bunch of three-and-outs, more power to them. Take him. And dont let the playbook hit ya where the...

If this rumor is true, I wonder when this in fighting started, possibly right after the Wake game? Could explain why the team has looked so bad after that. I always thought the wake game would be tough, but I thought we would beat them and at least hang within 10 points of USC. Never thought Ball State would compete with NU. Iowa State was just a weird game, and of course the Mizz game just was horrid.

Take this for what it's worth, Dr. Rob on "Sports Soundoff" heard that John Gruden would move to the Eagles next season and take Callahan with him as his OC. Whatever.

i believe a good sports psychologist (after interviewing most of our players) would find they haven't enough confidence to tie their shoelaces! these kids just got to be hating everything that is going on right now, but mostly the directionless leadership they have to follow.

ask any puff fan: they'll scream, "62 to 36, beotch!"

watson engineered one of the worst beatings on the huskers in years. (sadly, 'worst beating' and now become subjective)

i would defer to watson in the booth, too. i know callahan is an 'offensive super-genius' of the wild e. coyote-type, but it's all from the same play book.

unless callahan really feels that he has to call the plays himself and no-one else can grasp the offense like he can... which is weird in that callahan and watson have know each other for years and are both disciples of the WCO.

but what do i know. i'm just a fan.

Did some more reading on this other forum and apparently Damon Benning(?) had some insight to all this and the podcast is on 1620. According to this poster:

The problem is down to divisions within the staff.

4/5 players on Defense and the same number on O seem to get a free pass every week despite their poor play.

The changes he wants to see will not happen until the season is over.

A player can go to coach A and get answer Y, and then can go to coach B and get answer Z. Kind of like playing your mom off of your dad or vice-versa.

There is more behind Callahan removing his head-set than what we're being told.

Upset we got away from the run and panicked after being down 14.

Look for:

"Oct. 8th Seg 5: Damon Benning's Breakdown"

If Callahan and Watson are not agreeing and he took off his headset, then there might be something wrong there. I just hope that there isn't something that has manifested itself and finally reared its ugly head(Watson wanting more control and Callahan unwilling to give it to him). Watson and Callahan are both extremely competitive guys. They have also known each other for a long time. Who knows if they have had disagreements like this before and no one has noticed it. It's hard to tell.

Was reading on another board Callahan and Watson got a case of the a$$ with each other which is why Cally took off his headset. Apparently Watson wanted to make some changes with play calling and Cally wasn't diggin it. Guess things continued off field after the game

Also heard Cosgrove and Wyatt had an exchange of words about Wyatt's comment that practices aren't physical enough. Wyatt was essentially shocked the players didn't practice full pads and live tackling.

Seems to be a lot of tension and infighting amongst the coaches.

Take it for what it's worth
This would make tons of sense. There is a big ? to y this team is performing this horribly. I think this makes sense.

I think Cally needs to relinquish control of the OC duties to Watson. Nothing wrong with Callahan giving his input but let Watson make the calls.

like i posted a few weeks ago: if this ship is sinking rats will start jumping. rats are in-fighting, snapping at media, players fighting, finger pointing, etc...sounds like rats may be jumping ship.
