per Scout: As a 2008 junior at Chino (Calif.) Don Lugo, rushed for 1,200 yards and 13 touchdowns and led the league with 96 tackles and five interceptions.

 
Don Lugo High safety Steven Bethley announced his verbal intent to play for MSU.

Bethley had a scholarship offer - make that offers - from a few Football Bowl Subdivision schools. San Diego State and Colorado State had made their interest know last summer, while San Jose State did so a bit later.

But after all three schools signed defensive backs that they had rated higher than Bethley, those offers were off the table.

“I was frustrated by it at first,” said Bethley, a 5-foot-11, 208-pound safety. “But it’s really in God’s hands and I feel like Montana State is where I’m meant to be.”

I'd say it's sketchy to call it "God's will". He held-off on committing while offers fell of the table. I'd say that's more "you snooze you lose".
