Per source:

Boise State will pay Saban $500,000 per year. This is a fairly large downgrade in terms of pay and prestige.

When asked why he decided to take such a step down he answered "I have already made so much that monetary gain no longer interests me. Also the Alabama fans are pretty insufferable. And mostly because I lost a bet with Satan that Iowa would win the Big Ten title."
