Sale of HuskerBoard

He's the big swinging d!(k over there, from what I remember, though.

If they botch this and drive longtime HBers away I'm going to be pissed. This community really is the best. The thought of new ownership changing what works so well now into something worse and chasing people away worries me a bit. Not being able to chat Huskers and other stuff with some of you would legitimately bum me out.

Wtf did I miss??!???@!

Honestly I'm kinda excited to see what former posters we get back and also terrified of what former posters we will get back.  I don't know if I can handle cm husker AND ads about lonely Milfs in my area into pegging

I will have an open mind when it comes to the new board ownership.  I think the previous owners and current mods have done a great job managing this board the past few years.  It is often a thankless venture to do so.

Regarding BigRedMax, I am not a huge fan of how he does things.  I understand trying to run things as a business and wanting to make money, but too many times he comes across as a sleazy, used-car salesman.  I have seen him before Husker games, and he seems more interested in selling his wares rather than being a fan.  He just comes across as ingenuine.  I don't know him at all, so I could be wrong, it's just my perception of him.

That's a very specific fetish for a MILF. Any particular reason you're bringing it up here and now, or did you just gravitate there since this HuskerMax takeover feels like this community is going to be bent over and stuffed?

Some of you may be old enough to remember when HuskerMax (nee Huskerpedia) was free in the late 90s/early 00s. Moderation was for s#!t, there was more herp-a-derp and s#!tposting than you can shake a politics thread at, and the paywall was their way of making a profit off of doing what they should have done in the first place.

I really don't have high expectations that this merger will end well at all.

Pretty much this. You're not wrong.

I was thinking about this yesterday: I can't even remember the name of the forum I used to post on before I came here. I remember you posting there, @Mavric - was that Huskerpedia?

Funny; can't even remember the name of it it's been so long.

Was that owned by HuskerMax?
Yep, years ago HuskerPedia was owned by Max.  Then there was a dispute about the "Pedia" ownership, and Max was forced out and he created Huskermax.com.

It's funny to look back at all the message boards I used to frequent.  I started with HP, then didn't want to pay the annual fee just to post, so I found BigRedBoard.com (BRB) .  BRB was ok, but they had a super hard-on for Bill Callahan and hated anyone who was pro-Osborne/Solich .  They began to give bans left and right in 2007 when BC's team was melting down.  Many of those members joined Huskerfanclub.com (HFC).   HFC was ok, but they were really strict on not joking around and only having "serious conversations".  Their tag line was "serious Husker talk for the serious Husker fan".  At their peak, they may have had 50-100 regular posters, and there were people who were treated as "favorites".  After a few years, the membership really started to dwindle, to the point there were hardly any discussions at all.  That's when I rolled over to HB.  I had created a log-in years ago, but never posted until the last couple years of Bo's tenure.
