Sam Keller - average at best

With all the talk about all the problems with Nebraska football right now, I am absolutely amazed that nobody brings up Sam Keller.

No wonder Arizona State didn't want this "average at best" quarterback...sure he has a "strong" arm but what good does a strong arm do if you can't consistently place the ball where it needs to be. Yes, our receivers have dropped some passes but after yesterdays game, I've seen WAY too many balls thrown behind receivers.

Additionally, Sam Keller has absolutely no ability to see the entire field, he telegraphs his passes and has no peripheral vision whatsoever. His offensive line gives him PLENTY of time to throw but Sam Keller does not have the word "SCRAMBLE" in his vocabulary.

I could go on, but the bottom line is that Sam Keller is a piece of crap...bring on Joe Ganz and give him a chance.

He certainly played like garbage yesterday. I still think he's pretty good quarterback. We definitely wouldn't have 4 wins if it wasn't for his play.

I like Sam and think he's a pretty decent player. He definitely has a winners attitude. But he can't do it all by himself. He's gotta have guys around him who can block and catch too.

I'm sorry but Sam Keller has all freaking day to throw the ball with nicely developed pockets by that O-line...I wish they could run-block just half as well as they pass block for Keller. Even when Keller can't find anybody to throw to, he just freaking sits there waiting to get sacked instead of taking off. Yeah, yeah, yeah, I know...Keller isn't a scrambling quarterback...well, you know what? that's why he sucks...part of being a halfway decent quarterback is being able to know when you need to get the hell out of dodge and make a few yards running. Defenses KNOW that Keller isn't going to run...that's why there's always 10 yards wide open for him to run when he goes back to throw...he is a absolutely zero threat to run with the ball and scramble and that makes him one-dimensional and AVERAGE at best...I think I'm stretching it a bit to call him average.

Maybe the offense IS too complex.

We've seen flashes of brilliance. I think it's a mental thing now.

I thought he would be more firely and animated, though. I still respect that he proudly wears the N in front of the cameras.

The witch hunt is on!.....get off his back, go play with your kids, hobby-time, or something.

We wouldn't have 4 wins if it weren't for the schedule that they put together 4 years ago.

Keller isn't the second-coming some people expected him to be. Go figure. He's an above average QB in a tough situation. And he's certainly not perfect and has his weak points. He hasn't played well the last few games, but then again, nobody has. Can't hold that just against him, it's a team problem.

He has not displayed anything that resembled of what he did at ASU.

Average at best.
Is that him, or him using the system he has been put into here?

The only way we'll know for sure is if Watson gets to take over play calling for good with out Billy C getting in his way. The kid plays with passion and heart... I am one who thinks he has all the tools necessary, justdon't know about Bill C's system!

I'd like to see him strap on a set of balls and run up the field for 10 or 20 yards once or twice in a game. Then opposing teams would have a lot more respect for him as a multi-purpose QB.

I have been saying all along that it is a mistake bringing in a kid for one year. We are going to be without a QB with any experience next year, and no matter what the intent, that is wrong. BC is not only throwing this year down the toilet, he is throwing next season down also. IF TO is hell bent on not making change until next year, he is as guilty as BC when it comes to answering for why we don't have a QB with any experience next year...not the new coaching staff.

This season is pretty much done...there is nobody that this team could beat this year remaining on their schedule. It is time to clean house, and start getting the younger kids ready to play NEXT season.
