Satified and exceeded. The RBs and O-Line are already ahead of last year. Keller started to click in the 2nd half. I liked the McNeil shows much promise for the TE position.

The D really stepped up as the game went along and hopefully Octavien can string together more games like that.

Kunilac brings back the kicking game and his booming kickoffs will be soooo important for field position.

I've heard it said many times over the years that a team makes it's most improvement between the 1st and 2nd games. I look forward to seeing that improvement next week as they take the show on the road.

i was wanting, not expecting, a bigger game for Keller but i have to realize that this was his first start as a Nebraska QB, but except for the one interception, he played very well.

i liked the play calling after the interception, 19 something running plays in a row 2 TD's

the coaching staff needs to get the plays relayed in sooner, because it looked like Sam was having to rush at the line to get the play off in time. that is going to take away from his ability to audible out of a bad play in the future.

over all i would say B+

 
I would have to say my expectations on the defensive side were exceeded in this game, I thought I'd see more scoring by Nevada. Special teams seem to have improved especially in the return game. Offensively, Keller's arm strength seemed to be as advertised, but I'll echo the sentiments of others as far as the disappointment with the dropped passes. Running game was solid.

All in all, a good day, but that is to be expected in a game against an overmatched opponent.

 
Lucky showed us what we have waited 3 years to see and I was very impressed. The O Line made huge running lanes and also gave Keller so much time he wasn't even touched. I think the receivers will need to be more consistent. Kudos to the defensive line. I don't care that it was Nevada they played great and they were my biggest concern. I feel more confident about Wake then I did on Friday.

Running game was just plain dominate. Over 400 hundred yards. Keller struggled a little bit, but thats to be expected considering that was his first game in how long. But damn, the O-LINE! I'm pretty sure Keller is still standing back there looking for someone to throw to!!!!

Defense didn't allow a touchdown. Always a plus.

NO FUMBLES!!!! :hellloooo (As far as I can remember). How long has it been since that's happened on opening day?

 
The offensive line looked EXCELLENT. Lucky/Castille made some good open field moves and definately made the most out of those giant holes that the line was opening up.

It looked to me like Keller was throwing behind his receivers in the first half. He made some nice strikes in the second half, though. At least he isn't just flat-out missing/underthrowing receivers like Taylor did sometimes. The dropped passes by Nunn (two by him that I can remember) and the one by Hardy were frustrating to see. Keller's numbers should have been pretty good, but I think I saw 4 or 5 dropped passes, one of which was for a TD in the endzone (who dropped this? can't remember).

Defense looked good, but it's tough to tell with Nevada. They didn't give up any big plays, which is a good indication that they will be more consistent this year. However, I remember thinking to myself several times, "man, HE'S lucky that guy dropped that pass." Nevada didn't help themselves out much. I saw Grixby and Andre Jones get burned on coverage a couple times only to watch the receiver drop the pass. Tierre Green was really late on a zone coverage play and the receiver dropped the ball. USC won't make those mistakes.

And what can I say about Kunalic that hasn't already been said in the thread that's already dedicated to him? That guy is invaluable. Grixby had a decent game on special teams, too.

Don't get me wrong with my criticisms of Keller... it was his first time on the field in 2 years. He played well and did what he was asked to do. His role is different here than at ASU. From what I have read about him, the coaches at ASU asked him to try to make plays every time by gunning for the long ball. With BC calling the shots, he has a well-developed running game to relieve some of that pressure. He made catchable throws when he was asked to. He didn't seem to have a very good rhythm established until the second half, but that's probably to be expected at this point in the season. Later in the season he will probably be a bit more accurate and the receivers won't have to turn around to catch the ball.

And like I said, he drilled a couple of those passes that were dropped.
