Maybe Pelini/Beck will turn into Osborne/McBride, and it'll take them 20 more years to get over the hump, but when they do get that national championship, it'll be worth it.

the problem with this is that in college football today, a coach/coaches wont get 20 years to get over the hump and when a national championship, they need to win it or get damn close in the next 10 years or we will be seeing a new coach. why i dont agree with it thats just the facts of college football now a days, big time programs want like nebraska want to win it all now and dont really want to wait along time to see if their current coach will win it in the long run

I know what you mean, but it's not inevitable. It's mostly up to the fans. If the fan base is patient, the athletic department likely will be too, especially with somebody like Tom Osborne and whoever he handpicks to be his successor.

If the fan base is impatient, then it'll deserve what it has coming, like Nebraska got with Callahan following Solich.

Oh I don't know. Would we all throw our hands up in the air and demand Bo's head if we were in the big 10 title game 75% of the time? I think that would be great in today's era of football. All people had to gauge TO off of was beating OU early on and then winning it all. The conference title was almost a given during most of his heavily scrutinized years...i know he was almost fired but beat TT back in the day but i think the expectations are a little tempered if anything.

We want to win big but if we are in the top of the Big 10 year in and year out I can't see our coach getting the axe. You'll take some steps back and some forward. Should Bob stoops be fired because he hasn't won a NT in 10 years? The difference is he doesn't have a losing season lumped in the middle of his career at OU.
