Scout: Greatest CFB Team of the Last 25 Years

One thing I do know, is that 95 Nebraska could have managed at least one offensive touchdown against Boston College.

The 95 team played 4 top ten teams. Won by an average score of 49-18.

Against top ten teams.

Conversely, '01 Miami beat 5 top 20 teams by an average score of 45-11.

Not bad, but they also had their first team offense and defense throughout the entirety of at least two of those.
True, but they basically ran up the Score against Washington and Syracuse. Their other ranked wins were VT and BC, and 3 of those teams were 8-4.

Compare that with:

Miami played 1 team ranked in the top 10 at game time, none during the regular season (ironically Miami's only top 10 opponent was NU in the Rose Bowl) Nebraska played 4, avergae score 49.0 - 18.2, only one of the games was played in Lincoln.

Miami played 1 team ranked in top 10 in final polls (again Nebraska) Miami 37-14
Nebraska played 4, avergae score 49.0 - 18.2, only one of the games was played in Lincoln.
Miami didn't score an offensive TD vs a Boston College team that finished 8-4, winning by 11, and only beat an 8-4 V. Tech team by 2.

Nebraska's closest game was 35-21 vs Washington St., NU led 20-7 at the half and 28-7 starting the 4th Q. That was the only game within 23 points.

MIami played 2 teams that won 10 or more games
Nebraska played 4

Miami's opponents were 81-60 0.574%Nebraska's were 75-62-2 0.547%

My team is coached by Mike Riley, not Tom Osborne, nor do any of his players have any impact on todays game.

Time to forget about this stuff, it means absolutely nothing. Win now! Sounds like a bunch of old women talking about their high school days

I love our history, but that is what it is, history.

In honesty two loser teams in the modern day. We need to change that, and that is all I care about. Not arguing with Canes fan about who used to be or could have been better.

Who wins this year is all that is important.

You're posting in a topic called Greatest CFB Team of the last 25 Years.

Lol walk on wideouts? That 01 was the best secondary of all time. They would shut down any wr corps.
We already know how the Canes all-star line would have done.

The point was quit worrying about it. It is not coming back. Bud Wilkinson had some great teams, Army had some great teams, but for some reason we jump on the bandwagon, I wonder why? We have very little to be proud of the last 15 years, so this becomes our fight song. It has been played every year since they played.

Future, moving forward, accomplishment. Real World. Sales, marketing are important now, today not what happened 20 years ago. Most young kids reading that article, their first comment would be, really I though they always got blownout in big games.

I know it makes some of you feel good about Nebraska, it just makes me feel sick about where we have fallen to.

We have a new coach, a new path, a guy to get behind and support. Would much rather read about that than what was done 20 years ago.

Who is forcing you to post here? Who is forcing you to read this thread?

The 2001 Miami team doesn't cease to exist because they played in a different era. Nor do the 1995, 1997 or 1971 Nebraska teams. It's part of football history and it's fun to talk about. We're going to have such discussions from time to time. If you don't like those conversations, ignore them. Don't tell people they can't talk about them, in a thread specifically about those teams.

You do understand the purpose of having various forums and different topics.....don't you? There are ample threads about the current team and the more recent history of the Huskers. You may want to stick to those topics rather than blowing in a thread intended for the very thing you are bitching about. What's next? You gonna go into the recipe forum and light up Roxy because she is posting about food instead of the current state of the football program? Might want to pay attention to what area of the board you are reading and commenting in.

Oh good, you somehow managed to turn this thread into a "Bo Pelini/Bill Callahan/Frank Solich ruined us" thread.
