https://www.facebook...2&type=1&ref=nf this is really sad that a White cartoonist and a paper would post this refering to the black teen killed in florida. the guy that killed him could not gain admittance into the kkk. The shooter of the black kid was hispanic!

This was done intentiolly. Total classic pysop move.

Yes, so powerful...an editorial CARTOONIST totally just messed with my head and made me think the KKK was now inducting Hispanics!! Whew, glad you caught that, 'cause I was really worried! Worried that the KKK was accepting people other than god's chosen white people

If you don't understand political cartoons...you shouldn't read the newspaper (or be on Facebook in this case)

The whole bit about Zimmerman being Hispanic throws a whole different angle into it. I mean, when it first started it seemed like a lot of anger was being directed at whites, I had a facebook (PhD student at Michigan) write this whole blog post about White privilege and so on..."Whites" will still be blamed for this I haven't a doubt but its just interesting.

I'm also curious to see what happens with the supposed witness.

http://www.nydailynews.com/news/national/teenagers-poured-gasoline-boy-walking-home-school-set-fire-cops-article-1.1033062 You guys being in Lincoln should know about this. It is an election year,do not buy into the hype, because our politicians will play that game. again I do not think Obama made this statement on his own. It was an aid and he read it. But why was there no outrage over this? In other words This situation was handled correctely, but others will go ballistic without all the facts of a case. By the way kid had gasoline poured on him and 2 black boys set him on fire for supposedly being white? where was Jesse and al then?

Bucky some things are slowly starting to trickle out. Also the picture you are seeing of the deceased was a picture of him at 12 years old? or maybe it was 13. The kid that died was 17 6'2" and a highschool football player. Why did the media not put out his up to date photo? Something is starting to stink here. But it is a election year. also some other thing about the over zealous/wanna be cop are coming out. But it is weird that the cops did not charge him right away. Also you are aware that the guy that killed the boy had to get stiches. According to the press. One of the key witnesses is in hiding right now. I think that is smart with all the tension, until things calm down.

Zimmerman's mother is Latina (she is Peruvian), his father is a cracker.

Which, using conventional American rules about race, makes Zimmerman hispanic.

Which, using conventional American rules about race....
See that right there is the problem. Who his parents are shouldn't 'throw a whole different angle into it'.
Shouldn't but it does....the powers that be decided to make this story about race when it first came out so its relevant.

I misread your initial post. I took it as it changed your perception of the events.

I am just so tired of there having to be a Latino-, African-, Irish-, Mexican-, ect., ect., in front of AMERICAN. We will never begin to "ERACISM" in this country until we all begin to consider ourselves as simply Americans.

P.S. That cartoon made me want to puke. If I was a publisher somebody would be looking for work.

the cartoonist was proud of it. How his editor said run with it is beyond me. Just glad it was a paper, but it also got people fired up to point out that the shooter was hispanic and not white. Alot of people were under the impression it was a hate crime. ( Whatever a hate crime is in this country?) LOl, and the cartoonist was a white male. OOh also I am Irish/german american. I have never stepped foot in either of those countries, but now want to be refered that way. But what confuses me is that I have actually stepped foot onto the continent of Africa and know exactely which country i was in. So does that make me African american also? Or should I use the Country of the continent of Africa, because I actually Know where I was? I am really trying to conform to the political and sensitive ways of people wanting to be called blah blah American that is fine. But what am I DAMN IT?

Nah, same event just more information.

I'm conflicted because I know where Zimmerman is coming from...what its like to have a crime spree going on in your neighborhood and feeling like you have to do something. I think every victim of a crime wants to turn to vigilantism at some point but it blows over and we turn to the police, the people whose job it is to handle these things...anyhow I don't think it was about race. Zimmerman was an idiot but I have no reason to believe it was racial or that the police are malingering because of race.
