Shatel: Taylor Martinez hoping to save best for last

Well...we haven't seen an offensive line as good as this one in over 10 years. I am way excited to see what TM and the rest of the offense can do.

Can't blame the guy for not quite understanding how good the offensive lines were before he was born and when he was a little kid.

I'm sure he's very confident in his line and he's going to give them the credit he thinks they deserve.

From a long time husker fan, it would be hard for me say that our present line would compare to some of the past lines. However, if they want to prove me wrong this year and show me that they are, I am willing to change my mind! chuckleshuffle

The pieces are there to be really good though, anchored by an All American and an All Conference player.

If he wins a championship - conference or national - he'll be remembered as one of our all-time greats.
If he doesn't he'll be remembered as another Steve Taylor. Really good player and career in an otherwise forgettable era.
Taylor will go down as one of the greats in my mind. Worked very hard, loves Nebraska and doesn't get into trouble.

your criteria for greatness is pretty mundane.

I don't think he even needs to win a championship to be remembered alongside guys like Frazier and Crouch, necessarily. He just needs to leave no doubt he was, at some point, an elite player in college football, like those guys did.

To do that he'll need to figure out a way to cure his fumblitis, which takes away a lot of opportunities for him to be even more productive. Like elite college QB productive.

How would he like to be remembered?

“As having a lot of heart. And I never gave up.”
I don't think anybody in their right mind could say anything different about Taylor. The guy has worked his a$$ off.

Even if Taylor doesn't have the senior season everybody is hoping he has, I'll respect him for that alone.

The coaches seem to think our OL over the next few years will be dominant. The depth and skill at that position has been a major focus for a while.
