Shawn Watson #5 OC in the country

OFFENSIVE COORDINATOR POWER RANKINGS
1. Kevin Wilson, Oklahoma

BUZZ: He oversaw an offense that scored a record number of points last season, and he has his quarterback, two 1,000-yard running backs and the best tight end in the nation returning this season.

2. Galen Hall, Penn State

BUZZ: Hall is a veteran assistant who has seen it all. He deserves kudos for helping Joe Paterno ? his college coach, by the way ? see the light and upgrading the Nittany Lions' offense the past few seasons.

3. Gary Crowton, LSU

BUZZ: He has a long track record of success, and it was his offense that led the way when the Tigers won the national title in 2007.

4. Norm Chow, UCLA

BUZZ: Here's another guy with a long track record. Don't hold last season's inept Bruins offense against him. An offensive staff of Bill Walsh, Sid Gillman and Don Coryell couldn't have done anything with what Chow had to work with.

5. Shawn Watson, Nebraska

BUZZ: He's underrated nationally and has overseen some potent units of late. It wasn't bad offenses that got Bill Callahan run out of Lincoln.

Thats great company. I think Watson is a brilliant coach that was just over shadowed by the ignorance of callahan. I was very surprised he didn't become a HC after last season. I am curious to which job he is looking at. I do not know what college he went to but I wonder if he's waiting on the aTm job, it will probably open up after this year.
Here's hoping. <_<

Yeah that would be the kiss of death for his tenure here I think. That job would be very hard to pass up. I just hope he stays through 2010, but I don't get a good feeling about it.
i'm thinking he goes out west to the nuts and hippies...i mean the hel hole known as boulder.

How they formulate these "rankings" absolutely baffles me.

Does some poor staffer just sit there thinking up what would make a good list? Do they use monkey's hurling crap at some big list?

Either way, most of these are just them guessing anyways...

Kevin Wilson is good, but #1?

With all due respect, that offense has had the benefit of great athletes for quite some time. I like what they do on offense... I just have a difficult time calling him #1.

I seriously think I could pick 10 random plays from their playbook, eyes closed, and they will still score 6 points a majority of the time.

hmmm...

No way would Colorado want him, their fans hate him from his time there.
CU fans hate Watson? Why, because he came to NU? They had a pretty good offense when Wats was at CU.

I hope you are right.
CU fans had a love hate relationship with Watson. When CU was winning they loved him, when they lost they blamed Watson's play calling. Too conservative I believe was their issue.

Gus Malzahn at #12? Behind such luminaries as Ed Warriner, Mike Bobo, Andy Ludwig and Sonny Dykes! And only one spot ahead of some smo named Jim McElwain!

What does Malzahn have to do to get some respect? He only produced the top offense in the country two years running, and did it at TULSA of all places!

Yeah this list is a joke. Seriously who the f#$k is Sonny Dikes? I've never even heard of the guy! But apparently spending 6 years as a wide receivers coach under Captain Leach, makes you a top 10 offensive coordinator, even if it's only your second year on the job. <_<
