Creighton University Medical Center is in lock down after an officer
involved shooting this morning.
Reports show one man was shot three times in the chest by an officer
from an unknown department around 10 this morning. The man is in
surgery at this time and few details are available. The suspect is being reported as deceased.
It is believed it could be the man who led several law enforcement
agencies on a chase that started in Burt County last evening after the
man took off after a domestic assault.
He then headed into Omaha and eventually in Ralston but the chase was
called off due to high speeds. The suspect eventually crashed into a
light pole at 72nd and “Q”. The Omaha Police helicopter and search dogs
were brought in but could not locate the suspect.
It is not known how the man ended up at the hospital or what led to the
shooting. The hospital is in lockdown and visitors are being told to
remain in rooms. Check points have been set up near the parking areas
so those leaving can be interviewed.
The only comment from Creighton University Medical Center is the
shooting has been confirmed.
