Should we fire Satterfield??

Is the Oline great, no. But they have given Raiola adequate time to make passes and have actually opened up some holes in the running game but our 1 running back( Dowdell) seems to miss them.  The Oline is the least of our issues.  OC, ST and WRs seem to be a bigger issue IMO.

Raiola was only pressured on 7 of 39 dropbacks even though tOSU blitzed 14 times.
Yeah, this is a take from people who really don't know line play. Has our O line been great? Hell no, but they are way better than last year and have been adequate in every game we've played in. The biggest issue is inconsistency getting a push on runs, reach blocks, and communicating proper protections on passes (but some of that is Dylan too). I think a lot of people are confusing mediocre line play and poor RB vision for all around bad play.

This.  Plus the line often gets blamed for poor run blocking even if it's a TE's fault or something else.

Yep, the TEs are basically boom or bust on blocks. The Indiana game you saw Fidone get caught in no man's land on a jet sweep, not blocking anyone, then the next play he drives a corner clear to the sideline for a TD.

The OSU game it looked like they played pretty well though. I saw guys selling out to make blocks on better athletes who had them beat. They were getting just enough to keep us from losing yards.

If we lose to UCLA something like 21-17 this week where the turnover margin is neutral and we had to punt a bunch and our rushing yards per carry was again relatively dismal, then for me Satterfield is on the hot seat. For sure.

If we put up something like 28 points of offense and we win, let's say, 28-21 then for me it's just on to the next game.

Satterfield is suspect, but he's got four more games to show he's got some smarts in that brain pan of his. If we do better on offense than we have in the last three games - like significantly better - it's fine.

He knew his seat was warm after the Indiana debacle... had a week to put together an innovative game plan. Instead he ran the same old crap that hasn't been working all season. If he hasn't gotten it together by now, he never will.

Rhule has said repeatedly he wants a tough running team, throw body blows type team.

We currently rank 102nd in the nation in rushing yards per game

I'm not an o line coach.  but our o line play has been near worst in the nation to mediocre, at best, on their good day at what we are supposed to be all about.

We had the ball at the ohio state 6, and couldnt do s#!t.  We couldn't put rutgers away until busch hit that 70 yard punt because we couldnt move the LOS. We've completely dropped off the map the second the colorado game ended rushing wise. i have hope the younger guys will improve things but i fear we are saddled with a below average OL coach simply to have the qb we do

Perhaps it's Rhule's insistence that we keep doing things we're not good at that is causing a lot of the problem....

So, what makes you think it's entirely the O line's fault? Believe it or not I think this line is about as good as some of the ones we had under Pelini. It's still more or less the same line that was averaging 300+ a game last year.

Because very rarely are we getting our rb to the next 2nd level untouched.  We get no push inside, we already know how inept we are with outside blocking. Mazz might be our best run blocker yet for whatever reason was parked on the bench for a good part of the year. LT has been a black hole and we entered the year with this expectation we could  rely on teddy who has been injured for 95% of his career here.  Our line is massive, yet we can’t move the ball.

im not saying it’s entirely the lines fault. I think dowdell has some of the worst vision of a starting rb I’ve ever seen.

but eye test wise, I couldn’t tell u the last time we actually pushed a team around on the ground game

stats wise doesn’t tell a great story either

He doesn’t call offense, that would be the $1.4 mil dollar man in the high tower placating the 2% minority of the fan base who loves him calling their fav screen play concept
