Should we fire Satterfield??

I'm perfectly fine if Satterfield is fired or whatever changes can be made on the offensive side of the ball.

However, if the QB is not seeing wide open receivers or, for some reason, is choosing not to throw them the ball, is that really a play calling or play design issue?  I don't think so, unless by play design, we are including where the QB is supposed to be looking through progressions and that's why he's not seeing them...which is valid.  Still, the issues are his (and Thomas's) to fix.  But, I have a hard time just saying, the play calling sucks, when an experienced good QB would be making throws that make the offense move the ball....but ours isn't.

Maybe the cash cow, the fans, need to revolt and not sell out those games.   When mid-level schools have better teams and coaching than Nebraska has had in a decade something is very wrong at the very top.

Seems at the beginning of the year he was making those throws - no hesitation.  Something has gotten into his head.

Exactly.  Something has gotten into his head and it's not where it needs to be.  There are lots of plays where the guys are there...he just needs to make the throw.  For some reason, he's not.

Again, that falls back on Satterfield and Thomas.  But, to rant about how horrible the play calling is, I believe is missing the bigger point.

I am wondering this as well, and the coaches might be thinking this way also.   Another reason I don't think anyone is going to get fired.   I am beginning to think (heresy!) that we might be better off if Raiola transfers after this year.  I was so wrong about the QB situation this year.

Yes, playing at Nebraska has a way of wrecking players mentally.

I hope he stays.

But, clearly something has to change.  I'm hoping that he can take this, with some good coaching, and turn it into a positive learning year.  Now he knows what big time college football is like.  It's not as easy as HS.  He has to have his head in the game, make the correct reads and make the easy passes the defense gives you.  Also, if you are getting pressure, the best thing is to get the ball out quick and know exactly where that needs to go.  That's not the time to wait patiently for the long ball to develop.

God, I pray that Thomas takes over and we reach out to Nixon to be CO-OC and RB coach.

The 2 seasons they did that together it was the 63rd and 28th offense.

Not sure Satt has ever been close to that.

I doubt even if Rhule is fired that it happens for a while. He very well could be waiting to see how the Ryan Day situation shakes out at Ohio State. He tried to hire Chip Kelly to be his coordinator in Carolina, he might try to do it again.
