Why isn't anyone saying anything about the ol' ball coach down in Gamecock country. He is 1-2 right now. He pretty much is considered an offensive genius for the college football ranks but yet the media gives him a break because he is at a school that has not been all that dominate in the past.

P.S. don't give me crap about him only being there for three games because a lot of people were jumping down B.C. throat after 3 games last year. It should be the same standards for everyone, not just munipulating the numbers for one's arguement.

however, I can prove that BCs WCO hasnt worked. It didnt in Oakland (in 03, [as 02 he was running the schemes from Grudens system])
If it was Gruden's system and not Billy C's how come Tampa's offense has beenterrible every year he has been there? YOu don't think playing the 3rd string QB in 03 had anything to do with the output that year?

Im not saying that Grudens system is top notch, Im just saying that 02 shouldnt be made out to be bigger than it actually was. It wasnt bc's system that put up those #'s, it was the one that Gruden used for a few years.

the special teams (besides Koch) are average
Come on dude. Nunn averages 30 yards on punt returns. The kick coverage has been outstanding so far this year. I believe Green is averaging over 25 yards per kick return. The only struggle has been Congdon on those two field goals and that extra point. If you ask me the wind had a lot to do with the two field goals. Dyches was doing the samething in warmups.
Lets discuss this:

Coverage teams-Have done their job and made a nice improvement (up to this point) from last year. However, the level of competition has been suspect. Lets give it a few more games, against better talent.

Kickoff return- Green and his 25 yard average has been another nice improvement over last year. Nice solid average, not All-American caliber, but nice.

Kicker-I know that Congdon is just a freshman but he is now where near as good as Kris Brown was at the same time of his career (I know that is asking alot). Frankly he is about as good as Dyches, which is just average right now. He may turn out to be good by the time he is done, but right now he is just okay.

Punt returns-First, both Nunn and Grixby have had troubles catching the ball. I know that the yardage is better up to this point, but again look at the teams we played. Finally, lets look at Nunns big return from the Pitt game: while it was a great effort and a very nice return, he did 3 huge, basic fundamental errors on that return. 1) Caught the ball over his head 2) Caught the ball inside the 10 yard line 3) Caught the ball with 2 defenders right in his face, which can easily lead to a drop or getting himself "blown up" on the play.

Yes, it seems like there have been some improvements made, but lets not get ahead of ourselves. For both the special teams/defense, they have made some nice improvements, but lets be real, its been 3 games and the teams havent been exactly top 20 talent. Good thing for them that this is the worst schedule that I can remember as NU only plays 2 pretty decent teams (ISU and CU) and two good teams (Tech and OU?). I am hoping for the best, however :thumbs

Yeah I have to agree with New here...the kicking is a little suspect with Congdon right now, but the '95 kicker, forgot his name, missed a bunch of kicks his freshman year and had a great career.
