Nebraska basketball recruit Tai Webster has arrived in Lincoln from New Zealand, Husker coach Tim Miles confirmed Saturday night.
Getting Webster on campus from 7,750 miles away is a big first step for the player considered the prize of Miles’ first full recruiting class.

Yet the combo guard still isn’t certified by the NCAA to play the coming season.

Webster is set to begin second-session summer classes at NU on Monday. Neither enrollment nor class attendance in college affects the NCAA certification process, which focuses on initial eligibility factors such as core high school courses and standardized test scores.

A denial of NCAA certification for 2013-14 would create the possibility of time at a prep school or delayed full-time college enrollment.

I swear whoever is Nebraska's best player for each basketball recruiting class has some enrollment/certification problem hindering them from getting on the team. When will the curse just end.

i think the Athletic Office needs to see who in the admissions office has loyalties outside of NU. This happens way to often. If not, there is ineptitude that needs to find a new job.

While I wouldn't go so far as to suggest someone in the admissions office has conflicting loyalties, it would not surprise me IN THE LEAST to find substantial levels of incompetence.

A buddy of mine who is pretty connected to the program asserted today that the potential fault with Webster's eligibility stems not so much with the NCAA, but with Nebraska's admission office.

He compared it quite openly to the Roburt Sallie fiasco, and flatly stated that if Webster is not eligible by the time school starts..."Heads will roll".

Take it for what it's worth, since I have no idea, but in fairness, this buddy has been pretty spot on with most of his insights to me on Husker basketball.
